Never heard anyone say they are always trouble free- everyone usually has lots of issues with them. You need the budget and the mentality of the military to keep them operational. Doomsday is using up his lifetime supply of good luck on his 932A2- when it runs out someday, and if he still has...
I got to class late- so don't know if you filled the 3 feet of empty space at the front of the trailer or not. But maby a space to put a spare tire or two? A tool box for chains, binders, etc? Fab up your own mini-crane and use a 12V winch for the motive power? I like all the build so far, but...
Maby you will never be far from help if you blow a front tire, but I sure would hate to have to dismount the blown tire and then remount the spare to make it out of a remote place or back home in time for supper. Although the regular 1100X20's are bad enough to try and wrestle around, I'm just...
Do any of you add any type of anti-gelling supplement in colder weather? How about any supplement to get rid of any water in the oil? In the dealership I used to work in, there was always oil that was contaminated with water or anti-freeze and before we could burn it in the waste oil heater, we...
Check out what Alex G does at Idaho Motor Pool with a 12 foot M35 dropside bed on a 931. He has one in his inventory for sale so the pics would give you an idea of what it would look like. Google Idaho Motor Pool and it will take you to his site.
If I can afford it, I like to run new radial tires on the steer axle. And ideally they should be on the newer style one piece rims, not the older split rim style wheels. Most of the time a radial will loose air more slowly and give you a little advance warning that something is not right...
I would suspect the guage as faulty- make sure all your ground wires are clean and tight. Many times issues with eratic and faulty guages stem from bad grounds in the electrical system.
You could add it to your diesel fuel in a ratio of 20 parts diesel to 1 part oil and see how she fares. In a pinch you could likely go 10:1 and still be ok, but power may suffer and there will be gelling issues in cold weather unless you pour lots of anti-gelling additive in also, but then there...
Loved my M35 w/w but did not like the non-power steering. Without power steering, it could be problematic should you blow a front tire at highway speeds. So I ran new radial tires on the front axle to give myself a safety margin. The 5-ton 813 w/w I now have is much nicer to drive as pertains to...
Back quite a few years ago when the 250 Cummins was a common engine in log trucks and farm trucks, some of the old timers would take the used engine oil after a scheduled oil change and filter it well, and then dump the 3-4 gallons of the used but filtered oil into a mostly full tank of diesel...
A little progress as the budget allows. Have the rear porch pretty much done except for the decking and one rear step up from the deck level to the box/bed level where the camper/cabin will be. I have not taken off the tailgate yet, just in case I have to haul some building materials for the...
My grandma always told me that just because you can do something, does not mean that you should or that it would be a good idea.
I sold my deuce M35 w/w to a Canadian who showed up for it with a one ton Chevy 4X4 dually Duramax diesel and a 24 ft gooseneck trailer with dual axles running...
