You got "her" from Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa. This is where the Iowa Army National Guard is headquartered. Consequently, it is also a region maintenance training depot and from all accounts, the trucks are usually well cared for.
I got mine from there, and surprise surprise, it had an LDS...
If your pully's threaded halves aren't froze, all you need is a large crescent wrench, and a wrench to loosen the two bolts that lock the halves.
Put the large crescent on the back pulley, hold the front with your hand, and rotate the rear half counter clockwise to tighten. It works good IF...
Parts are rather hard to find for those compressors, as they are no longer made. They are still re-manufactured by Bendix though and I have found them at one time for about $350.
NAPA has a complete gasket/seal kit for them, although I'd have to hunt down the part number. This is assuming you...
It depends on how under-rated the set is. The 003's run 100% in single phase because they are under-rated in three phase to begin with, purposely for a number of reasons.
Sure you can pull way more than what the factory rates them for. My father in law gets hay from a farmer that uses a late 90's F250 dually (yes dually). He has a 40' fifthwheel or gooseneck, I can't remember because I'm usually busy unloading the darn things, but anyway, we get 300 small bales...
No matter how you slice it, you still have 14,000# on a trailer meant to haul 6,000# regardless of how you shift the COG around. Nice for theoretical computation, but in my opinion, not wise.
I don't want to debate PF with anyone. It's an absract concept which got me banished from the control room numerous times on shift......We would spend 8 hours talking about it, because it gets even more complicated in a co-generation system.
As an example, our generator is rated at 0.55 PF...
Speddmon, dangit for you for bringing up power factor. There are three types of power, in the power triangle. Apparent power....the power you see on your meter, real power....the actual power put out by the generator which can be measured by fuel use....it's the energy in vs. energy out, and you...
Sorry, I just can't make myself do it......I may need to be tied down and restrained.....maybe a little elctro-shock therapy..
Maybe Speddmon can help me, but I think I'm hopeless.
That is a valid point, however, one interesting note is that it is rated for 100% output and duty in a single phase configuration. Normally on a three phase set of windings, the output would be have to be de-rated in single phase. This is probably the largest clue that the generating head is...
If you are going to be relying heavily on a mil set for backup, heed the advice given and have a spare. They, like dueces, are generally middle aged, and parts can be hard to find.
I should've clarified like a previous poster had said.....you're absolutely right that they do exist, but are probably out of reach for the average consumer.
