I suck. Everyone else sees 32 half necked girls in an awsome truck. I see 32 $1.00 bills down the drain with each round and a bunch of whining about a bumpy ride.
An addiction it is. It started a few weeks ago with a co worker looking at a tank on ebay. He had me look at it just for fun and I noticed there was a whole section for military vehicles. Just like a gateway drug - that is where it started. I saw some of the deuces for sale and was amazed at...
Thank's for the great info Gerhard. You raised your truck approximately 2" to clear the new tires. Other than adding air assist, did you need to make any other steering changes? Any difference in how she handles down the road?
Was down for me again part of Saturday night and all of Sunday. Looked like a couple of posts were made during this time (but not very many) so it might not have been down for everyone. Anyways not a good thing for a junkie caught right in the midst of excitement over something new to be cut off...
O.k. I have decided to take the plung and move towards buying. :hop:
I don't have a lot of extra money right now, but I do have a '79 Ford Supercab 4x4 in good shape to sale. Also rebuilt (with POR15 paint and bead blasted aluminum covers) NP435 transmission and NP205 married transfer case...
I received a quote today from Stockton Wheel for 20x11" tubless wheels for the Deuce based on their "Power Wagon Special 24 Series" wheels. $375.00 each - powder coated. Seems fair for the work involved, however when you need 7 of them plus shipping and the cost of tires... :freaked:
There...
I would have to see what it looks like on the truck, but I think a lockable sleeve that slides over the exposed fuel cut off cable and prevents it from being able to move back in could be fabricated.
Also in reguards to 12V trailer wiring there is this statement on http://www.powerstream.com/dc1.htm.
"These are also known as 24 volt voltage reducers, and voltage regulators. These DC/DC voltage reducing converters are suitable for running electronics, such as radios, CD players...
The thought of a poor lowly pair hanging down in the chaffing wind, pelted by tire thrown gravel, frozen from slush and ice, snagged by sage brush and dead wood - - makes my eyes water. :shakehead:
Thanks Jimbo - that would be great. Good luck picking a paint scheme for Utah! There is red rock desert, regular Nevada / Arizona looking desert, and lots of forrested alpine stuff all over the north. Maybe you could find some of that chameleon paint that changes color in different light, only...
He's cutting up my babies!!! :shakehead:  :shakehead:
Edit: oops answered my own question by actually READING your post. Looks great so far! [thumbzup]
I live near Salt Lake City - tried to go see what a Deuce looked like up close at the National Guard yesterday. They moved the base! There were 50 - 100 trucks and motorized artillery there since before I can remember. Now I have no idea where they are at.
