In my case it isn't my neighbor that has a beef with my vehicles, him and I got into it over something completely unrelated but this is his way of winning. He won before as well, it was something to do with the HOA I was president of, he completely ignored anything I told him and the rest of...
Welcome from Georgia, formerly of Park Forest. My vote would be for the M1008. I had one once and can't say enough good about it. Very versatile. Don't expect to go 80 on the interstate with it, though.
Most times it has nothing to do with the vehicles themselves. It is an easy way for the complainer to get at the neighbor who has done something, whether they know it or not, to make the complainer mad.
Around here you can complain to the county and not leave your name. The code person has...
As far as registering it for the road, tell them it is a truck. Because it is. If you tell them it is half boat, it swims, it is anything other than a truck you will create lots of grief for yourself. Because it isn't a boat. It is a truck.
Now, I'm a member of the Amphicar club. Some...
Ya I can get ahold of jet oil also, but I've always heard there's something in it that is bad for seals and such in automotive-type engines. Perhaps a rumor started by the airlines so their oil stash isn't raided by all of maintenance.
Thanks everyone. Doghead, when I searched for what to use most of the hits were gear oil, the rest were waste oil of some variety. Not what I was looking for. I thought perhaps someone would have some last minute info on oil these days. When I had my M1008 a few years ago I called the number...
Hey everyone.
It's time for me to change the oil in my Deuce, and I've done several searches for motor oil information and come up with over 4000 hits each time and still haven't gotten what I want.
What is the latest and greatest, accepted motor oil to use in a multi fuel these days? The...
Howdy all.
I feel compelled to tell you that I've screwed up the parking brake on my M35A2C. I took off driving with it on and realized it about 500 feet away. It used to be I would pull all the way up on the handle and it would hold on the last click, now it doesn't hold at all.
I've got...
There's one in St. Augustine at a museum there. Can't recall the name of the museum, but I was up in the bay and also on the surrounding decks. It's like its own city.
I had an M1008 for about a year. I loved the truck but I drive a lot on the highway, and above 50 it ceased sounding like an engine. It sounded more like screaming banshees. And it beat me to death driving on anything but glass-smooth surfaces. It towed nice and ran like a champ, but after I...
I have an 83 Suburban with the third seat. It locks down into the floor with latches. To get the seat to go in correctly you'd have to cut the floor(or at least the holes with the locking bar) out of a three seat burb and weld it into yours.
Wow thanks you guys. Wish I'd have participated sooner. Papabear my DUKW looks about like the first two pictures. Oddly enough I don't have any pictures of it, so I'll get some and post them up. The rally sounds awesome, I'll have to finagle a couple of days off. I've been reading up on...
Hello everyone. Looks like I'm recalcitrant. I started posting without introducing myself. I'm Mike and I live in Atlanta. I own a very dilapidated DUKW and up until recently an 86 CUCV. I liked the CUCV a lot, but just didn't have use for it. Eventually I'll do something with the DUKW...
