Its not a test, it was just a visual observation and he considered it 'excessive' smoke. its the faintest smoke ever too. now when i accelerate it smokes as in the video, but i believe thats normal too. that's not what he was reffering to though.
I agree. im actually a very polite person and get along very well so i was really surprised when he singled me out in the line of cars and just started giving me trouble before i even opened my mouth.
Here is a video of it. I had only just started up maybe a minute before so the engine was...
yup found the frame stamping thanks guys! The last 7 digits of my vin match whats on my frame so we are good there.
I am running all diesel in it but i mean the engines were designed to burn anything so they we built to run on multiple fuels which says to me seals, rings, valves etc had to be...
Well i tried explaining it was idling, also all the stuff about it being multifuel and burning waste oil, transmission fluid etc, it was never designed to be a clean burning engine. he then explained to me he was in the military and they arent supposed to smoke. alot of them did but they werent...
I took my m35a2 through inspection today, sat in the inspection lane about 30-45 minutes idling. Inspection manager caem out just i was the next car in lane and told me they were only going to test my brakes because i had visible smoke at idle. I actually got out and looked at it, and its...
I had never heard of this but man that tool is amazing. i just ordered one because i dont own a 1" impact or any sockets to fit these wheels. its just cheaper than buying a cheap impant and sockets anyway and ive had plenty of impacts that wouldnt even budge bolts.
On a side note, what should...
Man i should really stop posting on forums when drinking haha
i would have to agree that most fire departments spend their time washing and polishing their trucks rather than maintaining them, and they are run very hard with no warm up time at all.
I have a 2001 cc/lb 4x4 dmax/allison same user name on deiselplace.com . i have a 22,000gvw electric brake triple axle traile already as well as a 10klb 28ft enclosed car hauler which isnt an issue.
I was looking at replacing the truck in the future. ive had it for 6 years or so i just coulnt...
I guess we will see. 10 tires vs is more contact patch for stopping as well as a 6.xx rear vsv a 3.73 rear. i know the engine is only rated at 200hp and 425tq or so and mine makes 450/800 or so but the deuce is just so much more fun and should be more reliable for the weight imo. i do plan on...
only 9? there were a total of 29, 14.5 should be mine then speaking in regards to efficiency.
I agree its a crap shoot with hours vs miles i was just more or less looking for any information on this truck. i was figuring it was govermenment owner, and decomissioned to there may be access to...
Oh yeah i wasnt really concerned with it for longevitiy of the motor, or anything like that, i just really like to know as much about what ive bought as possible.
Are these engines very reliable? The LDS that is? i am very meticulous with my maintenance on all vehicles. My Duramax/allison has...

Mine says 10,000 i believe. My silverado's is only 10,000 or so. Its never been a problem on any of the weigh stations ive gone through. They seem to only care what my trailer is rated for and what my truck is tagged for. Never cared about my tow rating. Maybe i just get lucky.
Well it has a 5 ton engine, i would assume with the 6.x gears and upgraded engine it should be rated the same. I have a tripple axle elextric brake trailer i usually pull with my 2500. If my 2500 can pull and stop it (even without trailer brakes) I would think the deuce should too. I rarely...
I don't drive my much at all, I am a truck driver by proffession so the driveability its much of a concern to me. it is much more fun and I don't see why it couldn't be made as reliable and alsafe especially when towing 20,000lb plus
Is that really what it means? I did by it about 15 minutes from DC
I wasnt too concerned with mileage or hours for reliability, i was more concerned with any history i could find on it. i know its more how it was maintained and how i take care of it as to how long it will last.
I bought this...
Yeah my 2007 international has 224k on it with 7100 hours, and that comes out to about 31mph average and this truck has been all highway all its life (dock to dock), and i can average 70mph on most freeways, so 36mph in this truck just seems high condiering it mxes out at 50mph (2400rpm) for me...
