The bolts I used are M8. I think the ones I got are ~25mm, but I'm not sure off the top of my head. There's a L100V pdf brochure which has the specs for the mounting flange:

The original alternator cover doesn't fit over the...
They are similar, but have a few differences. The BAPU is a 3.5kW unit and uses the L100 instead of the L48 Yanmar engine. The other difference is that font panel you're thinking of. The BAPU just has a small box with a few LEDs and a Hobbs meter. It would be easy to add gauges if you wanted...
Well there really aren't any factory gauges on this generator, so you're not really losing anything. The remote/local start capabilities still work fine. I literally did nothing to the wiring. Simply disconnected the wiring to the alternator and connected 28V to the same place you would...
PWM is a type of digital signal used to convey information (typically a percentage). A relay is a type of output circuit. PWMs are typically hooked up to some type of transistor based output circuit which when properly designed is more reliable than it's relay counterpart.
I don't have any...
Yup, I've done a cab swap. The amount of work depends on the chassis you have and the cab going onto it (as well as what's still in the cab). My cab swap thread is here:

I used the 6kW model:

They say you need a 13hp engine for that model, but given this is a diesel with a bit more torque than a gas equivalent I think it should be fine. The engine itself is rated for 6.8kW mechanical output.
I got the generator head swapped on my BAPU unit. Everything went VERY smoothly! Only "fab" work needed was drilling two new holes for the rubber generator head mount. I think this video covers most of the work needed. The only things omitted were I used a 3 jaw puller to get the bushing off...
Dewey will sell you the box (I checked), but its $350. Check out the last page of the manual I posted above. There's a full schematic for the box and its dead simple. I plan on wiring up directly to the circular connector on the local control box to start the unit up.
I finally got my generator in and confirmed it's got the right shaft for J609-B gen heads. I've got a 6kW unit from Northern Tool on order and will put together a thread showing how to convert this unit over to 120/240 AC when it get here.
:D
We'll see how it goes. There was a little wind when I drove it back from the shop, but not enough to cause any noticable swaying. I think the weight of it is keeping it pretty stable. Planning on painting it desert sand/tan to match the cab. Can someone remind me which one is the newer shade...
I would have liked to have a pass through, but I didn't want to deal with moving all that junk and re-plumbing all the hydraulics. There won't be much weight behind the wheels so CG shouldn't be an issue. It drives surprisingly nicely! I honestly like the ride with the box on better than the...
Thanks Ron!
Right now there are 12" x 6" diamond shaped fish plates on the inside of the beams. I don't plan on putting a lot of stress on these. The payload on this section of the frame will be minimal, and I won't be doing any towing. Should cracks start to develop I will add long...
The ideal way to do this would be to cut the frame between the front and intermediate axles, but this would have been ALOT more work. New driveshafts would have to be made, new air lines, electrical, etc. I just didn't have the time or resources for that right now.
My off road plans are...
It's similar to the 501, but has the larger L100V engine instead of the L48. This one doesn't have a fuel tank and has a cool remote start box. There's been a bunch of them coming up on certain websites...
The alternator on it is undersized for the amount of power the engine can put out. My...
