My linkage was out of whack for a bit and I would simply have to reach around and bump it with my right hand while I held the start switch with my left hand. It's all good now after I got it adjusted right.
Be careful running it without the batteries hooked up. I remember one poster saying he fried his charging system by running it without the batteries (or slave cable) hooked up.
Yikes, 75hz... You are waaay over speeding your generator.
Per the TM the low speed should be set to 1600 rpm with a Hz of 53.3 and a high speed set to 2000 rpm with a Hz of 66.6.
I picked up my drum adapter (adapter, two pieces of threaded pipe that screws into it and the hose threads into the adapter) from Delks. I'm thinking it was around $50 (+ or -).
On drums, I read where it was best to use metal for fuel as petroleum can attack the plastic causing it to leak /...
Do you have your meter set right? I remember when I was trying to sort my charging system out I was trying to read D/C when I had my meter set on A/C (which didn't work out so well).
Just sayin...
I've got moth balls and mouse poison bars in and around my 003A and my generator looks like Bill's when I lift the cover.
I think about the best way to keep the mice out is build a barn metal wall about 3' high around the generator. It would look stupid but it would keep the mice out as they...
Delks Surplus or a guy from the Sparks and Arcs board posted this:

Someone, me included, is always looking for something for their sets. In my case, I needed a set of injector lines, some shrouding and some other small stuff. I found it with Tom (didn't get his last name), in Baytown, TX...
I'm not sure how much a canister would cost from Delks but here's an aftermarket setup kind of like the previous posters were trying to make.
Hardy Fuel Filter Kits
My 003a sparks when I disconnect the batteries and I'm pretty sure it is charging right. That being said, I unhook the batteries when I'm done using it. In addition, I'm ordering a 750 amp battery disconnect switch (to make it easier) and a Solargizer (to keep them topped off).
Did you try flashing the field while it was running by holding the start switch (briefly) in the start position? There is an interlock that 'should' keep the starter from grinding.
As the only power I have at the barn is my 003a, one of my buddies brought over his buzz box, some rods and some scrap metal to try welding with the 003a. Contrary to what some of the manufacturers say, it worked just fine.
Even with the welder set on 180 amps with a pretty good sized rod...
Humm, I know I have some sort of draw as when the set is off and I disconnect the battery cable I get a little spark. I guess I could try and track it down as Speed mentioned or I guess (most likely) just disconnect the cable and call it good. That is assuming that my overnight charging got...
I keep my 003a down by the barn where there is no power. Today I went to fire it up for my monthly / every other month run and it cranked for a bit and then the batteries went dead before it would start. So I had to pull the batteries and take them up to the house where I'm charging them (one...
Mine has two regular car batteries in it (also from Walmart). The battery tray is waaaay bigger than the batteries but they don't move around and work just fine. I'd go with car batteries vs lawn mower batteries for the extra power.
Not to poop in the punch bowl but I'm kind of in the same boat as you and it doesn't look good. I've got a 003a and I'm looking to hook a welder to it. Knowing that 'buzz boxes' have major current inrush and related resistance losses it's kind of problematic. I spoke with both Miller and...
I wonder if the low oil pressure switch might be acting up? It isn't in the circuit while you have the main switch in the cranking position, once you put the main switch in run position the low oil pressure switch is activated. You might try jumpering it to see if that fixes your problem.
