    M35a2 vs m923

If I remember correctly, on a commercial vehicle, any axle set that is on the ground must have brakes that work. The only exception that I know of is for mobile home movers and the like. Either way, it's unsafe to tow a truck that heavy that does not have functioning brakes. I'll bet that the...

    That makes sense.

    ranch truck

Things are bad here in SW Missouri as well. There will be lots of folks pulling the plug on their operations due to the drought.

Need Fast Advice/Help for fellow SS

I think the reason for the seals being the way they are has to do with deep water fording. As the pressure from the water increases, the seals are forced tighter against the hub to keep water and debris out. I'm sure that someone far more knowledgeable than me knows more about the hows and whys...

    ranch truck

A guy that I work with has seen the truck in the first pics. He was so impressed with it that he is building one like it.

    Bought an M123A1C today

There are 3 of these trucks for sale just a couple of miles from my house. Two are running, working trucks, and 1 is a parts truck. Also there is a spare rebuilt engine. I would love to have one, but I have no use for it. At 2 MPG it would cost $30 just to drive to town. I can provide...

    Have you been tested?

Only been checked once in 15 yrs in the truck in NC at the Charlotte scale house. Around here, I've heard they occasionally stick tanks at the sale barns. The fines are so big, the small savings in fuel isn't worth it to me.

    Deuce bed on M-818

Kind of like the "channeling" mod the hot rodders do to lower a car, I guess. Cool idea!

    Deuce bed on M-818

This is very close to what I was planning. I think that for now I will install the bed minus the 5th wheel. I see from the video that I may have issues with the height of the bed ( loading, unloading) if I retain the 5th wheel. I did not realize that the kingpin height was so much greater than...

    Deuce bed on M-818

Has anyone done this? How much, if any, did the bed need to be shortened? I would like to retain the 5th wheel, if possible, and devise some method of removing the bed in order to pull a trailer. I thought about welding an old kingpin plate to latch to the 5th wheel, and using something similar...

Deuce vs. Pine Tree or not?

Can you use the loader without the backhoe attached? Looks like it is really light in the rear without added weight in (or behind) the bed. VERY cool machine!!

    tire fix...tube ?'s

Yeah, DON'T run it as a steer tire! A steer tire blowout of a tire that size at highway speed would be scary indeed!

    M35A2 v A3v H1 V Suburban v Excursion in deep snow and mud?

I agree. With a large, heavy vehicle that is going to travel on the road, you are going to have to learn to "hang iron". Chain the deuce up, put some weight in the bed, and you can drive on any road a sane person would travel.

Waiting on a M817 with winch by chance???

Could you describe this procedure? Are the 2 ranges syncronized, or is it similar to "floating gears" in a non-synchro transmission? I would be interested to know the shift pattern? (1 low-2 low-3 low-1 high- 2 high...? Thank you for any details you can provide!

11.00 air psi, up or down?

Did the road's pavement have the "ruts" (usually caused by many thousands of heavy vehicles) in the right lane? We used to have the wide single tires on some of the converter dollies of our double trailer sets, and the same thing would happen...The tractor and the trailers would stay in the...

Now lets see your truck in the snow

That is one cool vehicle! Saw a program where there was a similar design that propelled itself through the water the same way. It could also drive on the beach using the "Screw Drive".

What do you to cap your Deuce exhaust stack with?

I use a plastic 2 liter Mtn Dew bottle with the top cut off where the label begins, and the label removed. The green color compliments the Deuce paint scheme...

    m35a2c clogged fuel system

Yes, seemed to go that high. The linkage works smoothly, without binding. I will check, and probably replace the return spring, just to be sure.
