To make that trip in ten hours, you would have had to average 68 mph, so either the trip was much shorter then you think, or it took more like 14 hours.
But congrats on the recovery!

Filled up outside the gate where everybody apparently drives a car the size of one of my tires and thinks if there's a space, it belongs to them, no matter if I'm backing up or not.......but I digress....
Headed out of San Antonio and boy was that fun, 6 lanes, downtown, ROLLIN'!. Couldn't...

Thank You O Great One!
I sprayed over the "happy face" on the sides and hit some of the rust so she's a little more comfortable with it in front of the house.[thumbzup]
Went to change the air filter today and it was new. Cool.
Swapping tires from the trailer to the Deuce and getting that one with the bolt in it...
Country Boy Air Conditioning
So, on the Riley recovery, it got pretty hot driving across West OK and North TX, then an idea hit me.
I had a water bottle helping hold the driver's window open on my Deuce and figured if I put a full one there/loosened the cap a bit, the wind would blow a...
Dude, I just drove mine 680 trouble free miles on my recovery and lesson learned, soft top + 50 MPH x 8 hours = a need for duct tape or definitely some sunscreen!
And Motrin. Fighting that steering wheel will wear you out!
Just take your time and keep it slow.
Good luck Brotha!
So, the day after. Went out and discovered, she's let her hair down now. Had a bit of an antifreeze leak coming out from around the overflow connection near the cap. Best case, weak cap or maybe sticky thermostat. That'd explain the high temps coming through TX. (temps were back to 160-180...
Almost forgot. If any of you guys ever get to Salina, you'll miss an opportunity to meet a really great guy if you don't drop by and shake Glen's hand. He really went out of his way to help us and stay in touch with us the whole trip back. He's definitely a credit to the hobby and it was a...
So now the plan was to drive it to Salina, about an hour and anything significant would likely show up on the way. Glen had the massive Deuce towbar and offered to tow me to his place if necessary so after stopping for a fuel top off, we pressed on.
A few minutes into the trip, we hit a...
The gov't liq lady (who was awesome - Rebecca) left us to do our trailer loading finish up and went to let Glen in the yard and we started the truck recovery.
She was a bit sad looking. dirty, doors flopping, front tire flat (though new) and the rest were new Titans (all the tires on the...
Ahhhh, so now I finally have some time to post pics. Glen did a far better job telling the story than I did and was gracious enough to even add Youtube links to videos. My kids think it's "so cool, Dad's on Youtube".
Being it is so close to the end of school and Zac's done great again...
BAM! Made it home in one piece and I have to say, that truck ran great the whole way!:jumpin:
658 miles from Ft Riley to Clovis, NM problem free (almost).
Pictures and story uploaded tomorrow (Sat). Gotta visit with the fam and my 6 year old and 10 year old are climbing all over it right...
My first EUC took about 14 days so they've apparently hired some new bodies now that the hiring freeze/furlough is not a threat (or something).
Read up on other's recoveries and it'll give you a real world idea of what to expect.
I'm recovering one this week (M109) and one next week and will...
Back to the drawing board again. After American Collectors found out I got two tickets in a year (speeding) - one for 53 in a 45 - they wouldn't insure the deuce. Gulfway won't insure in New Mexico and Farm Bureau can't figure it out............sooooooooooo
I'm starting to think this...
