So I picked up the 1009 and its got a good leak that is dropping off the oil filter. The filter looks new...I tried to tighten it but I didn't get anything. Granted it was running and hot and covered in oil. I'm not sure if it's the filter oring maybe or the rear main dropping off. Its not bad...
May pick this up tomorrow. Currently the odometer stop around 5-8k ago. The batteries are dead, said he jumped it and drove around for 20 mins no problem and something with the rear diff. He put a 2wd diff on....not sure. Those are the cons
So....one the worst things about livin out of Deuter has to be climbing out of the back in the middle of the chilly night to take a leak. I'm trying to convince my wife to get me a pee bottle.... Other than that I finally got out sink plumbing set up. Now dishes are a breeze.
I appreciate the help fellas. The guys at TMG went through the brakes and filled with dot 3. My initial thought when the brakes dragged when I first picked it up was a bad air pack. Unfortunately since we are camping I don't have a lot of tools. I have a 20 ton bottle Jack and a smaller tool...
I called and talked to them. They said to check the air pressure relief valve. They said there's no way it was a hydraulic problem because they went through everything. I checked last night and felt the air stopped feeding when it got to 120psi. I've never heard the PPSSSSSSHHHH sound that comes...
So its been a few days. Tonight is our second night in Deuter. We drove up Sunday night fairly late and had a bit of a brake issue. I almost got to the top of the grade here to Arrowhead and my brakes started to drag then locked up completely. I was barely able to get off the road. So we hopped...
We were able to get some more done this weekend. Mainly the wife. I spent most of the weekend getting my k5 runnin...and no it's not a M1009...I wish. Just a 78 that was really mistreated. Somewhat like Deuter. To catch you guys up. We had finished the bed and sink cabinet, but both needed...
Yeah I was noticing the height problem as my head smacked a few bows...more than once. That was next on the agenda. I just needed to find a cover first. It's actually proving difficult to find a campground that will let us stay there. I guess they are considering the deuce a tent trailer... Kind...
Today the wife stained the bed and I finished up the sink cabinet...mostly. Just needs some sanding and stain. I am in need of a canvas. I was told the one I got with the rig was the earlier style. It doesn't hang down the back and sides that much. So I'll be lookin into a newer one this week.
So I picked up this deuce a few weeks back, few of you may recall the mayday, and the plan is to live in it for the next few months. 1 the weather will be nice. 2 it will help save some funds. 3 we can and it will be a hoot. So I thought I'd post up some pics of the build. The idea is after we...
An update...all my wheel deals were toast along with brakes. I also had about a quart of oil in my rear diff. All stuff I should have checked. Live and learn.
Update. So after contact with several helpful knowledgeable people I decided it best to not buy parts and try and figure this out 8 hours away from home. I bought this vehicle to work on and enjoy, but I can't justify buying a 500 air pack and hoping I did it right. So the nice guys at TMG are...
The truck is still in the parking lot. I made a trip down yesterday afternoon and ran a couple tests over the phone with a friend and it seems the airpack is shot and potentially the master cyclinder. I am supposed to be drivin back to bishop tonight, but may be stuck here. If anyone in the San...
