For rust treatment and prevention for the underside of vehicle's? I used to play with muriatic acid as a kid to make 2 liter bombs, not exactly sure how it, with baking soda will stick to the underside of a vehicle and keep it protected all winter long. I remember it being rather watery and...
Love Fluid film. The canned stuff is convenient, if you find yourself wishing you could control rust underneath better, then buy a gallon or 5 gallon can at Napa or anywhere else that sells it. My 5 gallon pail of the NAS formula cost $170 and will be enough to do my 3 vehicles for 2 years or...
I have used white vinegar and apple cider vinegar as well. I did a 50/50 mix with water on some heavy rusted items like cab mounts after I removed the rubber (24 hours). It helps soften the thick stuff but it wont get rid of it all. As far as adding salt to the mix, I have no idea if its...
The new Calipers came with one spring clip for each, but I couldn't figure out how or where it goes on. The old ones didn't have this clip. I tried searching for a reference image or something on here but didn't turn up anything so I left it off.
I will have to look up how to check the steering...
Finished installing new:
Front axle U joints on both sides with Moog grease-able units.
New spindle bearings and seals
New wheel bearings and races
New Rotors
New Calipers and Pads
New Hydraulic hoses
One new Brake line passenger side (Removing old line it spun with nut.)
Filled with fluid...
Replaced Front bearings, rotors, and axle u joints. Waiting to pickup new calipers.
I wonder what it would take to get my local municipality and others surround to switch to this stuff. Sounds like an excellent solution to reducing the rust issues as well as lower temperature effectiveness...
I prefer this as well, but local stores didn't have what I needed in stock so I had to resort to RockAuto. I have had really good experiences with Advance so I prefer to purchase from them... however their inventory has drastically dwindled for the older stuff. They don't even carry basic stuff...
Looks Like Rock Auto wants nothing to do with me having the wrong Calipers. They actually told me to sell them somehow... know anyone who needs a pair of loaded Morse calipers for an 80s Chevy?
As far as the drums go, one for sure is out of round, and the other likely needs balanced. I havn't...
Ok answered my own question by looking at the new u joints, I didnt realize they stuck out like that on the ends, I thought it was some kind of pressed in cap.. Heres a few more pics from today.
Bad news though... When I ordered new Calipers from Rockauto, they had a closeout special on a...
Thanks Jeepsinker and Cucvrus. Yes both sides are greasable, and they are good but already bought replacements. I have not replaced u joint with what looks like caps sealed onto the shaft before. Hopefully I can get the clips off and figure it out. With the clips out they will just press out...
The front drive shaft doesn't spin unless its in 4WD, how would the cardan joint create a vibration?
Also with one shaft pulled, will the diff fluid leak out or should I plug it somehow? I wish I could bring some of these parts into work and set them on the granite table in a set of V blocks...
Yeah, driver side vent window has a good seal, the passenger side isnt as good, and has a broken spring pin assembly to boot but it hasnt leaked either.
Ill sit inside and have my wife hose all around the door or something... one of these days.
Just realized my passenger door must have been replaced, it has the m1008 upper door seal that screws to the door, as well as a different window crank handle. Driver side doesn't and passenger area is bone dry.
My belts do the same thing as well, im sure it all stacks up haha.
tim929stro: thanks for the tips, thread and advice. I do have some dynamat type material, left over from a friends trunk job. I planned to cut sections of it to properly perform on larger metal surfaces that resonate. From what...
How well does the line X keep the noise down? I mainly use this truck to haul ATVs to wherever we ride, my wife and son ride along. As it is now, the truck is a box of noise and we cant hear each other without yelling, which could be a good thing when it comes to wives haha. Still I plan to...
This is what I ordered to insulate the truck claims no moisture absorption. http://www.amazon.com/ESP-Low-e%C2%AE-Ez-cool-Insulation-Foil/dp/B00S02MWHE/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1446130593&sr=1-2&keywords=ez-cool
I hope it doesn't end up rusting out like you mentioned. I supposed...
