So I got my driver side alternator rebuilt for < $100....tech said loose connection inside and voltage regulator was bad......now works great, no Gen1 light on if all lights are on and heat/defrost fan running on high.
Also got my Gates 7570 belt on - used an ice pick to slide the very tight...
Yep.......at present I get a faint glow from the Gen1 light when I turn the fan on high for the heater/defrost switch.......otherwise all is good.......prior to getting the closer to right size belt length, the Gen1 light would stay on more pronounced.
You are correct......I had incorrectly installed a Gates 7580 on my driver side alternator last year and of course it was now too long after a year.......I tried to get a Gates 7570 over the alternator pulley but could not do so by myself......so I installed a Gates 7575, which went on much...

I replaced bushings (polyurethane and greasable) and shackles (much more stout) with parts from ORD.......everything was correctly sized and functions properly.
But, at the end of the day, should have replaced the springs while I had it all apart.
I used a drill bit to drill out...
Based on the schematic in the TM, I was looking/expecting the fill tube mounting tab to be on driver side, not passenger side of the tube......thanks for the tip on the 2 o'clock position, that should be reachable if I can just see it!
Where is the bolt that attaches the transmission fill tube to the back of the engine? Or whatever it attaches to keep it stationary?
I couldn't see an attachment point from under the truck, nor could I see it from above?
I removed the air filter housing, but still couldn't see how the fill...
Any tricks of the trade for removing the old seal? It actually looks like it might be more of a grommet?
Thinking I don't want it to break apart or disintegrate while removing it and leave debris in the pan?
Guessing you probably insert seal/grommet first, then insert fill tube?
