m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

oh yeah, the diode went to infinity when it is reversed on the diode checker. Thanks for the great info Warthog, that should be enough to get me back up and running.

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

so I located the diode and used the diode tester on my digital multi-meter. it cam back as .523 instead of what I would expect at .7, seems like the diode may be good still though, anyone have thoughts on that? I would also like to know if anyone can tell me where the gen-2, passenger side...

Greetings All, I have a transporter that is moving a tow bar for me from georgia to cheyenne. Since I live in South Jordan, Utah I am wondering if there is anyone in Cheyenne that could recieve the tow bar and hold it for me on 9/21 or 9/22? Secondly if anyone in Cheyenne has any regular...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

I believe they are both isolated ground type alternators with gen 1 taking its isolated ground to chassis ground. Is this incorrect?

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

I took out the alternators and had them tested at my local rebuild shop. They work fine both with isolated ground. I did have some grounding issues and got some of those fixed. Now I am down to two issues only. 1. The horn is always on if I turn on the service lights switch, even after I...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

That's a good point on the glow plug clips. Do you have a NAPA part number you can recommend? I changed the glow plugs and my situation is still fairly dire on my m1008. I pulled both alternators and I rebuilt the drivers side one after rebuilding the passenger side one a little while back...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

alright, I am going to change the glow plugs, I will use the AC 60G and grind off the .050 width that is to wide for the clips.

Oh, and whats TM has the best electrical troubleshooting schematic please?

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

Sorry, for some added confusion, just to clarify. The truck will start, the gauge just won't leave the yellow. The gen 1 and 2 lights stay all the way on while it runs. The horn doesn't work nor do the lights, headlights, tail lights or turn signal lights even when I turn on the dash switch...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

I guess I should know better. I also noticed that the head lights and running lights don't work even when I turn on the service lights switch. makes me think a ground has opened up or something weird like that.

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

Ok, so a new issue has come up. I decided to introduce a new variable. My wife. She wanted to go buy some materials from the hardware store to build a dog house for the cat. I thought, she can't hurt it can she? Boy was I wrong, so I get home and the truck starts right up but the gen 1 and...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

Is it correct that this is just the civilian fuel filter I can get from autozone?

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

Wow, the impact gun is like magic. Thanks for the tip. I rebuilt the alternator, that was pretty cool. Got it back in the truck. took it for a test drive seems to be great. no more flashing gen 2 light and the gauge is in the green on the line as it should be after a few cycles of the glow...

won't the impact wrench just spin on the arbor?

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

Doing an alternator rebuild after buying the rebuild kit. What's the trick to taking the pully nut off the alternator? Seems that I have an allen in the center of the arbor and the nut that holds the pully on is not coming off, seems very awkward trying to hold the alternator on the groung...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

So the only time the glow plugs cycle is in the morning, they come on once and then don't come on again. I can hear the clunk and watch the volt meter go down to the yellow but only for a few seconds and then the plugs don't come on again, at least this time of year.

I haven't replaced the fuel filter yet. I will look into doing that.

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

The gen 2 light also almost never flashes if the head lights are on, even in the morning. This is really strange.
