I have been chasing an electrical problem myself on my new 1009. The speedo and fuel lights were IN/OP so i pulled the instrument panel and lightly sanded the contacts and the bulb holders with 800 grit and used a tad of that dielectric grease. You might have a break in that printed circuit...
Update, pulled dash, cleaned and replaced most of the dash bulbs and i now have speedo and other dash lights. Still no 24v gauge or wait lights or gen 2 light on starting. I went to check the out volts when running but my volt meter isn't working. i now have an excuse to go to sears, im thinking...
When out and pulled the cluster, other than a bunch of dirt i didnt see ant bulbs out. I am going to get a bunch of them tomorrow morning and replace them all. I hope this works.
Ok i looked at the TMs and searched and tried a few of the things mentioned. On the way to work today in my M1009 i looked at the 24v charging guage and it was not working i.e. no power. When i went to start in i noticed 2 other things, only gen1 light came on and the wait and water in fuel...
O.K. i did a search and only really found an on going debate. I have made up my mind to hose my new to me m1009 with sherwin willys 383 substitute. I need the actual part numbers or order numbers for the green and brown. On S.w. web site i just got more confused. Thanks all.

I have State Farm and i remember the first time it didn't want to come up in there system. All they had to do was enter it as a Chebby K35 and i had no problems.
