ok, so heres my update. in addition to the parts replaced at the top. i have
-replaced every bit of fuel line under the hood.
-fixed a screwed up seal on my cav filter
-bypassed the stock fuel filter with the cav filter
-cut a hole in the bed and inspected the sending unit. everything looks...
ok now i believe that it is the filter base. can anyone tell me how to bleed a spin on or canister style filter? i would love to just use my secondary canister filter but i cant bleed it. i have found no information on this on the internet anywhere but all these people are talking about...
thanks doghead, ill try that. can you give me some more info on the pressure testing? ill definitly take a look at that sending unit before i shell out big bucks for an injection pump.
you know anything about cav filters? i looked all over for a technical manual and cant find anything. it...
great storage setup. i was looking all over for some ideas and you have a great one. i think i will do something similar. except i want the spare inside. i think ill do something similar with the storage box but ill add eyelets on the top of the box for tying down additional stuff if needed...
ok, so i havnt found much on fuel problems in the forum so im making a new thread.
heres the problem. my truck is periodically dying when i drive down the road. im definitly getting air in the fuel system somewhere because i can immediatley bleed a ton of air out of the bleeder on the fuel...
weekend project
so im very proud of myself. this weekend i managed to do more to my 1009 than i ever have before. i fixed
-all the lights in the dash
-courtesy light
-backup courtesy light (blue led that plugs in the lighter)
-glowplug relay bypass button mounted under the steering wheel
-put...
today i was looking for things that could go bump in the night on my cucv. and what do i see? a bullet hole! looks like a 5.56 but im gonna check it out and see what kind of gun might have fired it. apparently i bought a truck that has been shot up.
ok so i replaced the turn signal switch and it didnt help at all. im kind of out of things to check now. i have fixed the wiring harness, changed two sockets, gone over all wiring that i can reach, changed the bulbs.
the only thing that i havnt completley ripped out is the trailer wire...
oh and i was thinking a little outside the box on this one. i cant find any other person that has done this. i was thinking about minimizing the control issues by putting a fifth wheel/gooseneck in the the m1009 bed. i know its a little strange sounding but i think itll work.
ya i did think of that already. if it turns out not to be stable i will only use it off the highway for short distances and maybe not at all.
I want to know what will the engine pull with the turbo and gears. anyone have any personal experience with changing the gears and turbo to get more...
fuel mileage and towing
do you guys know how much the fuel mileage is typically affected on the 6.2 or 6.5? also what are you able to tow?
im trying to find out what i need to do if i want to tow 10-11 thousand pounds. I know i can put a turbo and some lower gears(i have 3.08 right now. with...
the dielectric grease is just to prevent corrosion right? also I already checked everything else. no corrosion and nothing out of place. I think I may need to rebuild part of the harness that goes to the fuse block. the wire has been pulled on so much that it has lost all that rtv looking stuff...
sorry i cant attach the diagram. for the brake lights i think it goes like this; from what i can tell. from the brake switch to the fuse box. then it goes to the blackout switch. i think from there is goes to the turn signal switch and i think on to the brake lights. sound right?
ok, so after days of searching the forums and chasing wires and connections I still havnt got any progress. my break light fuse blows the instant you press the brake. the passenger rear everything doesnt work unless you turn the lights on for some reason. the drivers side rear has a lit up...
oh ya and one really strange thing is that the spot for the turn signals doesnt even have the capability of holding a fuze! somehow it still worked for a while.
other fuzes blowing
thanks antenna climber, thats what i wanted. also the horn, stoplights and blackout light fuzes all blow at the same time. anyone got any insight?
ok i got them working for now. to answer your question dstang97, yes the flashers were working on everywhere except the rear passenger side. the problem ended up being the wiring harness that connects all the lighting to the firewall and on into the cab. i took it apart and the green wire was...
