    Ya the little ring is a pop off ring (not really a washer). Its one of those things that you can remove with the flick of a screw driver.

    Well the hand held clamp was already where it is in the truck. So to avoid to many holes and the truck looking worse than it already is. So it stays where it is. As far as where it is hooked into where would you have tapped into that would be safer on my truck?
