rmgill, When you bolt 575lbs of machine gun/ring mount and ammo to the thin sheet metal... it's too weak to support it.

HRD, Couldn't stop there, but now I'm really stopped until I get that roller bearing info. Even with a plastic gun it's shaping up.

I finally found a TM with a picture of the cab reinforcing panel for M66 installations. Is there someone with this panel installed on the inside back wall of the cab that could tell me the sheet metal thickness? The TM shows a pop rivet installation so I'm guessing it's on the thin side.

HRD, Here are pic's of the larger 3/8 triangular plate we made. The smaller original one and the leg were bent from use. Look's like a perfect place for a cupholder huh? See the barrel holder gizmo on the left? I'm pretty much stopped here until I get some dope on the crossed roller bearings...

His prices are good for the quality of his kit parts. + KMP had a great RHSP/trigger group(semi). Just a overall good experience for the build.

Oh yeah I forgot about your top. It's to secure the M2 barrel during transit. I'll show you tomorrow with a pic. It mounts to the little tabs on the top of the front leg.

That pic was just some plastic to mock things up, I'll post an update with the real thing. Spent $75 to waterjet a bigger better 3/8 steel plate for more support you may want to look at. I had to design stuff real carefully to support the demil weld areas on the ring, so it'll look a little...

HRD, Forget the hatch, crawl up on the bed. Save your hardtop. The Hummer roof hatches are only about $150, I was thinking of those, some guy on Ebay has 'em. Personally I'm gonna keep my hardtop rainproof and just carry a can opener in the glove comparment. :D Did you get the little barrel...

I'd like to see those pics of the reinforcements. I'm bringing up the ring mount piece by piece. The last pics I posted, I only had the legs on. I've got to update those too.

We paid $270 for shipping. Currently the deuces with M66 mounts are busting themselves apart from the 525 lbs. swinging up overhead(w/M2, w/ammo). The gov't comm's I read say get the lightweight ring mount or reinforce the cab. But I have not seen the reinforcing TM's or pics. I'm gonna take it...

Don't forget shipping a 350 lb. 48 inch diameter is pretty expensive, try freightquote. It worked 'ok' for mine, with frequent attention.

So I guess I'm gonna have to spray the tip of the my new M2 canvas cover blaze orange too, just to be on the safe side. :)

The M2 canvas covers are $75 at Crane, you could drive around with a 2 x 4 and broomhandle under it. 8) And leave the M2 in the transit case until you get to the destination(or need to clear a path in traffic). :) Check out the 'brandishing' laws of your state... in IL I'm even wondering...
