Are you talking about the oil pressure, engine temp and the fuel gauges? Does the hour meter work? Use a test light (24volt) or meter to make sure juice is getting to the gauges, does not need to be running for this, but the switch needs to be in the run position. Check and see if the panel...
With over 100 feet cable the 12ga is definitely too small. If it was mine with that long of a run, I would go with 8ga the whole run. The bigger the voltage drop the longer it takes to start and will bog the generator even more. Even with 10ga the whole run, I think your pushing too much...
Also if possible plug the compressor directly to the generator, if that works okay probable voltage drop.
Do not use the convenience outlet for this, too much load
One more thing, if you already have a good load on the generator might not be enough surge capacity left to start the compressor
I am not familiar with this trailer, but am familiar with this type of braking system. Could you pull it up a slight hill, park it then go back and check for a hole. If still no hole, how about a clamp like a heavy duty c-clamp to prevent engaging the brakes while backing up.
Compressors can be very hard starting requiring 2 to 4 sometimes more amps to start. It seems like it should start this load though. I would replace all fuel filters and check air filter. I would also add more and more smaller loads to capacity to see if the generator will output what it should...
Doesn't most diesel fuel today contain 5% or so of bio-diesel to add lubricity to the ultra-low sulfur diesel? My understanding is that it not the sulfur in the fuel that has the lubrication, but the process to remove the sulfur causes it to lose lubricity and bio-fuel is an economical way to...
I agree 100%. If that's your setup, I would say that that should work. If it doesn't, I would recommend disconnecting the supply line from the generator and take a container of diesel and hook it to generator connection held up high to take advantage of gravity and try that, it could be that the...
Yes - that would be the way to go. Would not have to be very large solar panels. 2 10 watt panels hooked in series with a 24 volt regulator. mount panel where it would get sun for at least half the day, run wires to the generator. pretty much maintenance free. One of the worst things for any...
I don't think your fuel filters are the problem, but could be making your problem worse. Usually with the fuel filter starting to get clogged you will notice a loss of power, but will otherwise seems to run okay. It,s possible that old diesel could maybe the problem, but it would have to be...
Good, it looks like the governor is working okay. You may know already know, but from what I've read on other posts you do not want to idle the engine down on these generators, I think it was the voltage regulators that fail, but I'm not positive. I probably cannot help you much on the frequency...
Sorry about your engine, you evidently got one that was sitting with water in it too long. If you fix this one chances are it's going to have to be bored out. Maximum oversize bore on this engine is 1 mm. Therefore the maximum depth of that rusty area has got to be less than one half of 1 mm...
rustystud - I would never use nor recommend an engine that pours out belching clouds of smoke. Evidently you have only worked with extreme cases. In extreme cases no amount of fairy dust will do anything. An engine sitting out in the back 40 for 10 years without a rain cap where it rains...
rustystud you are absolutely right sort of, yes any engine that is been stuck will be deficient to some extent, depends on how bad it was stuck and what condition it was in before being stuck. I worked on a number of farm tractors that have been stuck, some not so bad and some pretty bad...
I usually mix ATF with diesel fuel half-and-half mixture, the diesel fuel makes it penetrate a lot better. Be patient, let it soak to do it's job. Remove the starter and use a prybar on the teeth of the ring gear of the flywheel. This applies a lot of torque. When it starts to move, stop and...
I could be wrong, but I think Guyfang meant to try starting with the air filter hose disconnected. Just for testing purposes just make sure there's no dust or debris to get sucked into the intake manifold.
frequency adjustment
has this always been like this? or did something in the operation cause you to think that something was wrong? does the governor seem to work okay, does the frequency stay constant when you add and subtract loads? I will try and upload a picture, something is different...
