Either is a lot cheaper than WW2 era tracked kit or armoured cars!
This might be of interest to those who have either a BMP or OT-90 - it is the parts catalogue for a BMP-1. All in Russian of course but very useful!!
You will the DjVu viewer to be able to read it.
I know it should be a BMP-1 with Red Stars on the sides. Unfortunately we only have 80% of a BMP-1 (everything from the turret down - rest is Czech) with Czech roundels so we're making do with what we have.
Had a hellishly hard job getting volunteers to be the Afghan rebels...
Just a (belated) thought - have you tried talking to Duncan Nicholson of "Tanks For sale"? He's UK based, phone number is 00 44 1772 601214. I know he regularly brings stuff here from the Czech Republic and has shipped kit to the US in the past.
Got to be worth a phone call?
Stick 'em in the hold baggage even your dreaded TSA surely couldn't object to that !! :p
Seriously - I have some spares for a cabby around the arena if you want to after the show ends.
E-Block tends to be a bit under-represented in comparison to WW2 era for example. However in addition to...
Good news!!
The OT will be in the living history field with the Red Alliance and 9th Company groups, I'll probably be in the Americas field with the Stalwart - cross the traffic light bridge and carry straight on, about 500 yards up on the left. Look f for the groups flag, a pirate...
Glad to have been of assistance! :-D If you manage to get them I will - of course - be very jealous !!:-D
As for the helmets - I use the standard ribbed canvas helmets in my old girl - they work well, we've been thrown about quite a bit in the arena at W&P and, as yet, no one has been...
Best I can do is give the URL of the firm that is (was?) selling them in Poland - deactivated to Polish standards. This is:
BRO? DEKO / 14,5 mm KARABIN MASZYNOWY KPWT - DEKO - Pa-Ko
Price there is 1829 Polish Zloty 0r about $652 plus shipping.
I have a problem here in the UK in that only a...
Glad it was of use to you!
Sometimes it is better not to drain the condensation - like when the group beside you have been using the road wheels as a urinal.... Starting the old girl when they have sat down for coffee = sweet revenge... 8-)
Hope you can both make it - be great to have a chat about these old girls. Mine is usually the only one there at W&P although a Slovakian guy did bring a BVP-1 over a couple of years ago.
I doubt anyone will ever know all there is to know on these machines - unless they served in the Warsaw...
Thanks Frank!
For comparison the BMP-1 weighs in at approx. 13.2 tons light, 14.6 tons heavy.
Whereas the OT-90 weighs in at approx. 12.5 tons light and 13.5 tons heavy.
I put together a few web pages for a University project recently that covers the OT-90, if you are interested they...
Sadly this is true.. Fortunately one of my friends is small enough to get in the narrow gaps - other times it's a case of hanging upside down from the load bed beams with tools tied to the wrists by string.....
Masochistic fruit bats can apply within!!
One of the crazier things in life is here in the UK a thing like a tanks main gun, a 25 Pdr field gun etc. can legally be owned live on a shotgun certificate. We have s number of T34's with live main weapons - also Chieftains, Abbott SPG's, T55's, T72's and so forth
Virtually everything else...
In order of age then...

Awaiting loading for transport up to London for the pageant.

I have an OT-90 here in the UK. Compared to it's nearest UK equivalent of that era, the FV432, it is fast, fun and easy to maintain. No sure how it compares to an M113 though - never had a chance to play with one of those.
At the time it was a toss-up between the OT or a CVR(T) - no contest as...
