    Value Needed 56-58 M38

I agree, its a FrankenJeep, but still with 6 to 7 K$ Note in addition to wrong dash: no cowl battery box, no glovebox, wrong master data plate carrier.

    Why convert 24V to 12V

Part of owning these vehicles is to rat hole away spares when you come across them.

    M37 light switch question

schematics are around online. However, I for one have never seen one that is correct in all aspects. The only people with lengths and that kind of information are the people who build repop harnesses (I would think). Is there enough of the old harness(es) to get measurement off of? Then write...

    M37 light switch question

Pin J is one of the two from the light switch that goes to the turn signal control. There is no wire on this pin on trucks not fitted or retro-fitted with turn signals. Pin J is hot when the light switch is in "service brake" or "service drive" (headlights) positions - This is what powers the...

    M37 light switch question

The one with the light switch is called both the front harness or cab harness, its the most complex of the lot. The twelve pin connectors are a mil/aero standard. You can find them on eBay. A new one comes less wires. You solder the wire on, slide the compression grommet all the way on and...

    M37 light switch question

I rewired my M37 stem to stern. I made every one of the 12 harnesses from scratch. I got the correct wire (new and pliable), all new douglas connectors, the correct no stick wrapping tape. A machinist friend built a little punch and punched me out a couple hundred aluminum tags. Then I started...

Master cylinder and gas tank vent line hoses

Well, you were spot on. The gas tank vent line is clogged. The explains the gas cap... Finishing up on all new brakes, flex hoses, wheel bearings, seals etc. Inspected before initial fill and found a wet fitting. Tried to tighten and it just twisted off at the nut. Thats fine. Im ordering up...

Master cylinder and gas tank vent line hoses

Thanks. Well the tank is coming out next anyway. I finally chiseled, pried, forced, cajolled all the little screws out of the pick up and sending unit plates. Looks like Carlsbad caverns in there, with truly stalagmite and stalactites of rusticles in the tank. Absolutely ruined. Fortunately a...

Master cylinder and gas tank vent line hoses

aHa! Answered, except for P/N. Found them in figure 150 of TM 9-8030 under Horn wire removal of all things.

Master cylinder and gas tank vent line hoses

I am having a hard time with the two flexible lines that run from the left front frame rail to the hard lines on the engine, under the generator, that vent the master cylinder and the gas tank. I cannot find good illustrations of how they fit, mount etc. From the length required it looks like...

    Garm's M37

Looking good! From what I can see so far, it is pretty much unmolested. That puts you miles ahead on doing an original truck. Even the instruments are correct originals. The remannants of the side spare carrier are there. Did you get the rest with the truck?

Adjusting valve on a dodge flat head

Curiosity question: What do you guys see on a vacuum gage? After hot adjusting (running) to the old numbers I get 19 inches, jiggling back and forth to 18 inches. I assumed that would be called a steady reading, now I wonder. Its a new motor with compression lowest cylinder 119Psi and highest...

Adjusting valve on a dodge flat head

I find it less hassle to just remove the entire passenger fender, and take off that tire. Its still a royal pain in the rear and messy, trying to adjust those while its running and not burn yourself.

    Pre-oiling the Dodge 230 engine?

Once you have the head off check for stuck valves, these motors have a reputation for them sticking after sitting too long. Marvel Mystery Oil is your friend. My current M37 sat for 43 years. It had a stuck (and I mean stuck) exhaust valve. I ended up taking off the manifolds. Old presription...

    1963 M37 - Pre-start checklist

The throttle return spring runs from the lug on the throttle rod where it attaches to the bell crank on the intake manifold. The other end goes through a little hole in the pinch weld of the firewall, beside the speedo cable and rear wiring harness. you can see it in fig, 70 of TM9-8030.

    Gama Goat taillights

Using the "nato" full red lights requires the specific housing to go a long with it. If you put the full red lens on a regular aluminum housing the lens is rotated from where it should be by 30 degrees. :xEDIT: I just discovered my batch of red lenses were manufactured wrong. If you find...
