Replacing the worn Strike Bolts in the door of your M1009

Thank you for posting this guide. My Grandpa's truck needed this a few months ago (the plastic bushings came off) and the internet only explained that the plate would fall into the pillar and if it does your out of luck. Instead of chancing this, he just wrapped the posts with electrical tape...

    Bent tow bar ears question

Could certainly still fabricate a bunch of these pretty easily. If not to make, it would still be a fun side project (at least to me) to get dimensions to be able make CAD drawings so as to be able to make these. I tried digging around in the TMs but couldn't find any dimensions but one could...

    Bent tow bar ears question

I don't know too much about these things but I would say chop it of and get a new end fabricated for it (if you want/need). Even though this might cost a bit, I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper than the tow bar prices I've seen. Get some high strength steel or even some alloy stuff, torch out...

Really frustrated. .M1010 and questionable work

We might be able to give you a few more tips (on shops and such) if you tell us where in Washington you are ;)... There's a lot of distance one side to another.

Really frustrated. .M1010 and questionable work

Where in Washington are you man? If you are close enough, my Grandpa knows of some very good shops in the Vancouver/Portland area that do high quality work for a reasonable price. Having recently rebuilt a 6.2 with my Grandpa, I wish I could say I could help but my current situation prevents it...

I thought I was DEQ (SMOG CHECK) exempt in Oregon?

That sucks... I can't find any applicable exemptions for you either. Makes me glad that I'm on the Washington side of things. Here, anything more than 25 years old is automatically exempt. Story here; My grandpa's 83 C20 that we recently took the engine out of his M1009 for once had to do...

    M123 new to my collection

That thing looks awesome! I imagine since it is a 10 ton, it is considerably larger than a Deuce even if it does share a number of parts. Would you mind posting a picture of this thing parked beside a Deuce?

    M1009 Help

Thanks guys! I am in the vehicle market but I can't afford much. The "Blue Beast" as it is now seeming to be called will most likely be sold to help pay for some stuff for the 6.2, such as the possibility of a sweet Banks! It may not be going towards me (no good reason it should in a modest way)...

    M1009 Help

Well, I haven't done much to it besides the obvious engine pull... I'll admit, after calming down and taking a better look, the truck ain't worth me going after it but since my Grandpa has the engine now, it's looking like it might become someone else's opportunity or likely just a solid parts...

    Metal tag on 6.2 Diesel

Thanks Muddobber, I'll check that if I get to work on the engine/truck tomorrow!

    new to forum. quick question.

Dhambley, look at my most recent post, store, part number, specs, and I did look up and confirm that there are Autozones in Arkansas... Looking at what Warthog said, it is the right one (and still 6 bolt). And if you are wondering, Autozone is a fine place, they have treated me and my family...

    Metal tag on 6.2 Diesel

This seems to be pointing more and more towards it being an id or tracking tag of some sort...

    new to forum. quick question.

Try Autozone... They have a tc for an '85 k10, 6.2 and th400, that is six bolt, 1200-1400 rpm stall speed, and part number B6M. $80 + $40 core. Hope this helps everyone!
  15. Howlin Mad Murdock

    new to forum. quick question.

So would I be further confusing this or clarifying by saying that there are two types of 3 bolt tc's? The gasser one and the diesel one? From what I'm drawing from here and from my own knowledge, the tc's used to be 6 bolt, were changed to 3 bolt, but still have both gasser and diesel versions...

    Metal tag on 6.2 Diesel

Sorry for the wait, I've been very busy! Yes, the tag has rounded edges on the back Emmado.

I guess the first question is if you have the reinforcement bracket or not. Hope you do!

    Metal tag on 6.2 Diesel

I didn't think to check for that... I will be working on the engine again tomorrow and I will check if I remember.
