I'm interested in this line, what made you choose the HEMTT drive train? The Detroit, while a decent engine at the time, may not be the best choice. Is it just availability of components?
In my experience it is the 90 degree adapter. Every tire on mine would slowly leak down until I replaced these. The trick to removing is a really good pair of needle nose pliers. I've used these to replace them, and they've worked great...
Got an email from GovPlanet last night saying that I need to complete an EUC on the truck I bought last year. Funny enough I completed an EUC at time of purchase, so I'm guessing this is targeted at those who recently got their trucks EUC free?
I would really like to run my crane on the HEMTT without fast idling that big old 8v92. I'm wondering if I could install a smaller gas powered hydraulic unit and plumb it in parallel to the pump on the back of the engine. Has anyone ever ran a Grove crane like this before?
Watch that coolant temp. Many of these trucks have been low on coolant, the reservoir looks good, but it quickly drops into the radiator after moving around. I was convinced mine was at level, but it ended up taking 7 gallons to bring it to full in the end. The shutterstat cooked at some point...
Thanks Jon, I read through that section yesterday as well, I cracked the line leaving the fan control valve, and there was pressure on the line when the engine was hot. I think I'll drain the air tanks this morning, as well disconnecting that line and verify the fan clutch locks up. Should know...
Guys,
I think I may have an issue with my fan on the M977. I recall when I first got it, that the fan would kick on during normal operation, pulling a huge amount of air. I don't believe it is turning on now, and the coolant temperature has been working it's way up above 200F. Any thoughts...
So we've been getting good use out of our M977 around the farm, and the new M989A1 trailer was brand new, and was delivered successfully. I had to drag it up the mountain over terrain that the HEMTT was made for, but on the run up to one of the hard sections I bounced the crane pretty hard. The...
