The under hood evaporator did not work. It would blow nice and cold when idling but when the engine started working the poor thing was overwhelmed by the under hood temperatures.
So I bought a under dash unit off e bay for $99 dollars and it works great. It was a little to long so I had to notch...
Installed the replacement AC compressor and vacuumed down the system. Charged with 2.75 lb
r134a and the air got real cold.
The real test will be the drive home. I don't know if the blower can move enough volume through the stock heater ducting. Also I realized I have no means for...
Went to charge system and 1 minute in SQUEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL. No ride home in nice cool air. The idler bearing locked up on the reman compressor. A/c will have to wait till next week.
(oh, and I got my buzzer for the low air working...I had to disconnect it, and I need to put a toggle in so I can shut it off for engine starts, because I can't tell if the engine starts or not-can't even hear the starter turn the motor over.)
I used a momantary off switch in the deuce so I...
Check the charging system voltage. I had a Chevy that would run good cold then start losing power and running rough. charging system voltage was way high. replaced the points again and the voltage regulator and that was that.
Built a lightweight bracket system for the AC compressor out of 1 1/8 bar stock. Its strong because it makes a triangle off of the alternator adjuster.
It has zero flex and is easy to adjust the belt tension.
Note the white dots on the AC belt. It helped me keep track of which was which while...
Test fit the compressor to make sure it will work in the space. I picked a single v pully unit so the alt and water pump will still have enough belt wrap not to slip. I did some research and found that some were having a problem with belts slipping.
Worked on the condenser lines.
Mounted the condenser today. I got lucky or God was looking out for me. The condenser is the same with as the radiator so I was able to screw it right to the radiator sides.
The radiator slopes and the bottom is closer to the brush guard. So I cut the cross bar loose and welded it in pulled a...
I'm sad I can't go. Even have someone else coming from Eugene I could convoy with.
But my wife would not speak to me if I went alone, Worst than that when I make her really mad she quits cooking for me!
I pretty sure that going by myself would put her in the really mad category. (Might be worth...
Depends where you buy your oak. Home depot 3/4, Hardwood suppler Around one inch if not planed.
I'm lucky enough to live 1/2 mile from Scottys hardwood and also Jerrys. (think Home depot) so I swing both ways depending if I want to play with the planer or not.
Made bracket for accumulator, Added pag oil and installed in truck. Also installed a valve in heater hose.
At some point I will have to deal with the top of the evaporator box being uneven.
It bothers me. Wished I had noticed when I screwed it on.
Started the camo
I find that a roll of electrical tape works good to protect reflectors from paint.
Also I have seen questions about Krylon or Rustoleum paint.
The color is so close between then that I use them both on the same job.
Krylon is easier to spray but Rustoleum last longer in...
