My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Yeah and notice how the videographer was sidestepping out of the way towards the end of that clip. I was thinking "maybe this isn't such a good place to stand if the brakes decide not to work" I am sure the asphalt spreader body across the farm path would have cushioned my body a little though...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Hi Bjorn, As Chris says it is the one on the injection pump end. It is very close to this one at McMaster-Carr with the quick-disconnect fitting at but with a M6 thread on the IP stud. That turned-down M6 bolt worked pretty good but I am not sure I'd want to trust it on a trip down I 95

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

As promised, here are some pictures of our work session yesterday - it was great to see it move under its own power! I unfortunately didn't get any pics of our road trip seats...Chris had two pieces of oak cribbing and I had the edge of the battery box. Here is the transfer case shift linkage...

    m37 winch wanted braden

Those are great looking kits that John has - they even include the frame extensions and winch bumpers.

    m37 winch wanted braden

I purchased one(just the winch) at the Aberdeen meet a couple of years ago for $400. It came off of a VFD truck and had been used. I did ok - the price was better than others at that meet because it had a busted input shaft bearing retainer. I am still looking at replacing the big bronze gear...

    M37 repower with Isuzu 4BD2

Nice! Looks like a real clean truck that you are starting with. Will you be using a PTO drive for the winch or switching to hydraulic? Chad

Now that the bees are mostly gone maybe you can reclaim the nearby connex for Winter work! We had it going on last year with a kero heater or LP torpedo running in it.

And you can't forget the dog - chocolate labs could track a lot of dirt in and you wouldn't see it on them, right? Nice job on the brake chambers - now all you have to find is the flex lines.

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Were you ever able to check the rear axles to see if the brakes were caged? I can't remember if it was this truck or the last one that you had caged the brakes on it to pick it up from Little Creek.... The cans, slack adjusters etc. don't look too bad on this one but you know how looks are when...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Nice! This is what the I&E guys at my work were describing but couldn't remember the specifics about - I wish we would have had some for the alternator harness... Chris, we might want to cut out and re-do that one heavy alternator wire with this as I am still not convinced that the solder really...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

As promised here are a few more pictures of the Labor Day work session. Fiberglass troop seat sides make some great lightweight tarp supports As Chris was saying, the alternator harness had been hacked off at some point - looked like the vehicle harness had been given a dip in salt water for...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Looking Good! Sorry that I couldn't stay until it was running yesterday. I started to splice in a Packard connector on that #566 wire on the alt but didn't when it looked like the ring terminal was easy to get to.....Oops! I'll upload those other pictures tonight. Chad

    Working on Ol' Blue

Thanks Wolf - I can imagine if one did not check the true lubricant level that some expensive parts could be ruined quickly under load. This one has seen some hard use as there were rub marks in the end case from where the winch was used for a side pull.....probably when it was used as a...

    Working on Ol' Blue

LOL! I looked like I had been at work in the mines when i crawled out from under it today - there must have been a 5 gallon bucket full of dirt dauber nests where the lines went under the crossmembers! Is yours going to need brake lines too? Any progress on the diesel conversion?

    Working on Ol' Blue

Today brought more progress - since the fuel tank is out being renu'd I got started on replacing the fuel and vent lines. I used a set from Midwest Military that contained all of the hard fuel and vent lines plus the short frame to engine block hoses. All lines were armored and came with tags...

    Working on Ol' Blue

I've been making some more progress on Ol' Blue since the last update. I picked up a Braden LU4 winch that has seen fire department service given the red paint. The bad news is that it looks like either a bearing failed or it was overloaded because the input bearing retainer literally exploded...

    M37 IIgnition Assembly Connector

I believe that John at Midwest Military could also help with both: Midwest Military Home Page He definitely has the Douglas shells and other components.

Roof mounted A/c on a hard top?

Thinking out loud here - how about a semi truck APU?: Kohler Power: 3APU-24V-HC: 3APU-24V-HC: 3APU-24V-HC: Idle Reduction: Mobile Generators A lot of states are passing anti-idling laws so drivers are adding these so they can stay in the sleeper without running the engine. I have seen some at...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Ahhh, nothing like the good ol' "mobile home" style rim and tire. I would love to be able to swap out the hubs/drums on that trailer to some regular 5 lug style rims - it would give us a lot more flexibility in selecting tires....

    NC Registration

NCDMV hasn't communicated things the best either. I am lucky that the guy at the feed store/license plate agency told me when they changed the law for weighted tags a few years ago or I wouldn't have known about it. I am now carrying 14k on our 3/4ton pickup because DMV says you must be licensed...
