Ok, thanks Doghead,
To be fair... he is asking:
Can anybody tell me the section of the TM9233020214P that outlines how to disengage the hydraulic brake actuator system?
A pdf search of the manual does not find any mention of: 'actuator locking pin' or a proceedure to bypass the surge brake...
Koolex11... Looks like the days of folks helping folks are over on this site... Unless you can anwser the question yourself your just not going to be helped out I suppose. I personally looked through and searched the manual 2x, once when I picked up my trailer and just now, and did not find...
On my old Goodyears it is stamped on the tire, see pic. On the 'Newer' Coopers (1960s) that have the safety warning and DOT stamp this stamp did not appear unless that is what the stamp '64L' means or code 'CEX237'
.... I Should have mentioned that you have a nice trailer there! I'm not sure if your trailer was set up like my M100, on the left side the nuts are left hand thread, which I did not expect on a trailer. So if you have not taken off the wheels, just look out for that, a big impact wrench will...
Back in 1991 I bought a M100 trailer from a north country farmer in New York. Both tires were dated 1951 and were all dry rotted but felt 'solid'. I hauled all summer with that trailer, scrap metal, my motorcycle (farmer cut a tailgate in the trailer), demolition debries etc. Just before I...
Mine was green, mostly because my wife hates, like really hates camo. Last fall it got too rusty and I fixed all that then put the 3 color camo back on, following the TM and I think it looks good. I live in suburbia and mostly it just gets folks used to seeing me, and mentioning that to my...
As far as a source for parts, I ordered all my stuff from the www.fwdfactory.com Showed up fast, spicer parts & timkin bearings, good price. They have all the dana 60 parts on hand.
The TMs are obviously the place to start...but I found this link to give a good overview...
Ditto, what cucvnut said. Had death wobble, balanced / rotated/ inflated tires, did not fix, then snugged up the front bearings, no fix... then changed the front king pin white bushings and springs, problem solved. I went for an alignment after that and all was already exactly correct. The...
... and a good time was had by all.
I had a good time meeting you all, thanks for the kindness.
Made it home ok, time for a pump, it hardly ran by the time I got home, kept it at 53 the whole way with just one fuel stop.
RL,
Thank you for the quick reply!.. Looks like this will be a fun event. I hope to convoy up Friday with the kid in my M1008 (I guess leave the M101a2 behind for this one).

Does anyone know if this is kid friendly? Can I take my 6yr old son on the FT Drum trail ride and camp out Friday night?
Is it ok to be a 'specator' in a M1008 vs. a reinactor?
Any info would be great,
Thanks!
Has anyone just used WD-40? In the winter on marine diesels this was the standard practice. I have not done this with a CUCV but it should have the same effect. What I don't know is how it will work with glow plugs and pre-combustion chambers, the marine engines had pre-heaters.
With the...
I found the gaskets I pulled 3yrs ago (as I got the truck, stock 1008) and pics are below. The old gasket clearly shows I had the coolant hole in the head I showed above (red arrows above and in this pic below) so I would have used the 6.2l gasket, not the 6.5l version. (still, the 6.5 is a...
Wellpro222... I went to my parts log and did not find a reciept that had the actual felpro number on it that I used. I re-checked 'the diesel page' 6.2 engine manual and yes, the 6.5l gaskets were better engineered and compatible with newer 6.2l engines. There is still a 6.2l gasket made because...
From what I could find at the time the FelPro 6.5l headgaskets were re-engineered to work better than the original 6.2l version. If the coolant hole shown a few posts below is not present I was told the 6.5l version can be used. If you have the hole, use the 6.2.
I installed the 6.2...
I would rather think of this as a timeless classic.... the info may help the guy searching for info or reassurance... I find that my xmil trucks tend to look about the same dispite the passing years... in fact your red m715 (KSM715) avatar has not aged a bit since I first saw it!
or it could...
