I have searched the archives and can't find how to add a "T" fitting to the elec. oil sending unit so I can have both mech. and elec. gauges. Any body know how to do this? Thanks and sorry if this has already been covered.
I have an '85 m1008 with approx. 68,000 milies. I noticed today that it is leaking antifreeze from one of the oil pan bolts: from there it drops onto the starter, then the u joint of the front drive shaft, then onto the ground. I've checked the hoses and can only access one freeze plug on that...
I have several gallons of the stuff around the house and thought it would be a good way to get rid of it without throwing it away. Of course, I would not add but maybe a quart at a time.
I read a post several weeks ago that said to pour a couple of quarts of automatic transmission fluid into the fuel tank to determine if the IP was shot. Will this hurt the 6.2 and does the type of ATF matter? I also read about adding ATF to a deuce's fuel to increase BTU's. Any comments?
I would like to add a temperature guage and oil pressure guage to my m1008. However, I would also like to keep the idiot lights. Where would I hook up the temperature and oil guages to the engine. I would also like to install two 12 volt guages to replace the voltmeter: I assume those would...
I've been listening to this new rattling as I drive to and from work. I'm fairly certain that it is new. My dilema started the other day when, after I cranked the engine, it slowed RPM's a couple of times and then quit. The tank had enough fuel but something had stopped the fuel flow. At any...
Does anyone know if it's possible to install a manual fuel shut-off valve? I think it would eliminate the possibility of the electric shutoff failing and it should make the cucv more EMP resistant. Of course in the event of some catastrophe the EMP would also diable fuel pumps.
The oil change is on schedule, but what's the timing set? I should have asked how is the timing set? I used some ehter the other night to start the engine and it revved really high. Now I'm wondering if the rattling has always been there or if I've damaged somehting. What are the damages...
When I accelerate, I hear a rattling that sounds like that which comes from a gasoline engine with low octane fuel. Is this normal and do some diesel fuels have a lower octane, (or is it cetane)? I'm not sure if this is a new sound, maybe its been there all along. The engine has approximately...
I got the truck cranked and it's idling now. I cranked it again with the glow plugs hooked up and it idled extremely high again and I shut it down. I then took the air filter out of the breather assembly and tried again. The truck cranked without a high idle: maybe there was residual ether in...
I hpoe you're right--but this idle sounded more intense than an air-in-the line type idle. I just checked the glow plugs and they aren't melted or swollen but the tips on about half of them are deformed by about .01". Is that normal wear and tear? The GP's are about six months old. Still...
I just tried cranking the truck with ether--small shot and then waited about 5 min-- for about 5 minutes with no luck. I then re-connected the GP's and the truck cranked but idled extremely high, so there must have still been ether in the system. I immediately shut the truck down--it only...
