    GL-1 Gear Oil Alternative

The document that Chevyman posts clearly states to NOT USE GL-5 ..... Numerous times! I can get GL-1 at the local NAPA for about the same price. Sounds like I am going to use the good old GL-1!! Dave

Just a few reasons it's good to own a CUCV...

Sarge.... You definitely have a way with words! I have to agree 2.5 times (I happen to be a Deuce owner) with number 10. There are more than a few people that know me only as "the guy with the BIG ARMY TRUCK!" :driver: Thanks for the post and keep burning that fuel! Dave

Agreed, I think these are troll postings. What are the guidelines for locking threads? Maybe this one would be a good candidate? Dave

Complete deuce winch mounting bolt list

Treeguy, Thanks! I am in the middle of doing this right now! This will hopefully shorten the number of trips for me to the bolt store... :-D I pulled the standard torque values from here: http://www.dultmeier.com/pdfs/tech-library/C_BoltTorque.pdf 1/2-20 -- 90 ft lbs 5/8-18 -- 120 ft lbs...

    Can someone identify this?

Richter. Maybe with a better picture I would have a fighting chance at ID'ing it... That being said, it doesn't appear to be damaged in any way. That maybe a good sign.... Any information about the engine? Has it been recently rebuilt? Any major repairs lately? What caused you to pull the...

Winch: What additional parts are needed?

Josh, How about you kick me for not getting the bumper with the winch, and I'll kick you for not getting the bumper with the winch. That way we spread around the kicking! aua I guess these are all lessons for next time... If there IS a next time! Dave

    Really need help! Completely dead.

Rod, I think he was pointing out that the Pink wire needs 24 (or is it 12) V to allow diesel fuel into the distributor pump, and then into the engine... CUCV's will not run without some source for voltage, they do not have a fully mechanical distributor pump. Dave

Winch: What additional parts are needed?

Gringeltaube, Thanks for the link to the thread... there is a lot of info there that I probably would not have found otherwise! Turns out I am missing ONE of the 12 winch bracket to winch bolts. As well as the six long shackle - bumper - triangle bracket bolts. It sounds like the long bolts...

Winch: What additional parts are needed?

Kenny, I may have just made a small mistake. :???: I purchased a winch setup (winch, cable, bumper ext, pto, shift levers, etc). I didn't pick it up so I don't have a lot of details. The mistake comes when I say I didn't get the bolts to mount it. What bolts are you referring to? I think...

Rookie question new to the deuce!

:ditto: on Haspin .... We took my M35 a couple of times late last summer, and had a BLAST. Check out the thread I started about my first trip ---> http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/58205-pictures-haspin-trip-10-2-2010-a.html I haven't made the SS rally over there, but it is guaranteed to be...

    Thank You Fort Campbell

Jason has always been GREAT to work with. Campbell was the first GL site I had any contact with. Before I started working with other sites, I was BAFFLED when people were angry with the GL lot managers! Like you say, be sure to bring your patience, but The Campbell guys are top notch in my...

Kenny, Thank you for taking the time to add a succinct, thoughtful post. Your thoughts mirror mine exactly. I sometimes struggle with an appropriate way to approach members with lower post counts. I just don't feel like they will understand my positive intent. I also wanted to take this...
