"Most sites will not allow you to spend more than a short time with the truck, they are worried about people cannibalizing other buyer's trucks, it does happen a lot."
Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated and understood. Hadn't thought of Cannalbalism. Since this is my first MV, I...
Thanks for the insight about the site (Ft Drum) and Kevin. I was hoping they might be more
lenient on "working on the truck". I'll give it a try, if that doesn't pan out, I'll have to contact a shipper. I have been searching the site (and it's GREAT!) for members or suggested shippers with...
Thanks for the good advice. Since this is my first recovery, I'm putting some tools & batteries together. Hadn't thought about pull starting with a heavy chain and another truck.
Now, the chain is included into my tool set. Thanks...
I'm addicted allready!! I wish it was in my driveway. Just out of curiosity, when you made your appointment for pickup at Ft.Drum did you have to get in and out quickly, or would they allow you some time to say...work on it? Mine doesn't start, if I can't get it running reasonably quick, (a day...
Thanks for the contact. Sorry for your mishap, with my luck, I would probably get 20 miles off base and then it would break down. Only 280 miles to go... An emergency tow would be extremely expensive. I have done some preliminary research into the ignition and fuel distribution systems. So if I...
Just got my approved EUC. This 5T was described as"does not start".
NowI need to arrange recovery of it from Ft. Drum. Here are a few pics of my
1st piece of heavy metal!!:-D
Just got my EUC approved (14 days). I need to recover an M818 that "does not start" The vehicle needs to go from Ft. Drum to the Mid Hudson Valley/Southern Dutchess county, town of Stormville. The trip is approx. 300 miles one way. If there are any members that would like to help me out, PM me...
Today is my lucky day, I've got my FIRST EUC approved. I initially submitted on 6/18/09, but had "revisions", so it didn't go to BC till 6/19. All together the process took 14 calendar days!!
Now I have to arrange for a recovery of my 1st AM GEN M818 5T @FT. Drum NY.
Yes, that is the towbar i'm looking for as displayed in your attached photos.Too bad they were sold as scrap, with no NSN. Thanks for your response.:-D
You are correct, the MK-48 doesn't use a towbar when coupled to the MK17A1. I am looking for the bolt on towbar that mounts directly to the frame of the MK17A1 for movement by another MV after it's uncoupled from the MK48 power unit. Thanks for the response.:-D
In general, how many members bought Deuces or tractors that stated either “running condition unknown “ or “did not start” , and all they needed was topping off all fluids,
& new batteries? What’s the possibility of getting a good one?
