I run a gallon of fresh ATF in my 1008 every 1000 miles. I have put clean motor oil in too with no problems. I probably should just put a quart of ATF in every fill up. I always fill Mercedes fuel filters up with ATF when I change them out.
Radiator - Take it to Marietta Radiator on Butler Street near the Cobb Civic Center. I have been using them for probably 17 years, they are very honest folks to deal with. 770-428-7120.
Muffler - Take it to Marietta Muffler on Roswell Road next to the Big Chicken. Greg is the owner, 2nd...
My closest neighbor is about a half mile away. We live WAY OUT in the country on 50 acres. I have over 100 Mercedes parts cars so the CUCV just blends in with all the other crap. Everyone in town knows me as "the guy with all the Mercedes". I get a lot of good comments from former military about...
"User edited content". That is why I don't believe everything I read on wikipedia. Anyone can post incorrect information and call it correct. Does anyone police the content. I love the picture of the M880.
How big of a unit is this? I have a friend that goes down to Cape Coral once a month. That's about 90 miles south of Bradenton. He might be persuaded to bring it back if it is not TOO big. He likes cash money just as much as I do.
@cheiser. You probably should get the correct column unless you want to go through the trouble of totally rewiring the wipers and turn signals. The older columns were for vehicles with the wiper switch on the dash and the dimmer on the floor, totally different wiring. I guess it could be done...
Correct me if I am wrong , but it is my understanding that the third port on the sending unit on a Military version is for a fuel drain, at least according to the TM's. A more accurate description would be fuel siphon in my opinion, because you can't drain the tank from the top.
With a second...
You can get official military style brass stencils on ebay. They are very durable and cool as ship. They slide together for proper spacing. I have 2 sets somewhere that my ex-brother in law gave me when he was in the Navy about 30 years ago. He probably stole em off the ship. USS Simon Lake if...
I'm thinking a slice out of an old anti-freeze jug might work too. We used to use anti-freeze jug "shims" on Mercedes rear trailing arm pivots to keep them from making noise. Even with new bushings they were still sloppy. The "shim" was just the ticket. I may have to fix my mirrors soon. They...
I'm just messin with ya brother. When I first signed on and introduced myself, I was told Not to ask silly questions like "What is this button for?" without first searching the forums or the TM's for an answer. I kind of sets you up for comments like mine. Again. I am just messing with you. No...
OK, I gonna go ahead and say it since nobody else has. With all due respect, This has been covered about 4000 times. Sorry mudman, I couldn't resist. Search my friends, search. I said with all due respect.
@iluvbudwsr. First of all, I love me some Bud Select 99, so we should get along just fine. Second. The adjusters are easy to replace just DON'T BUY THEM AT THE AUTO PARTS STORE. They are CRAP. Look in the TM and get the GM part number for the plastic nut-sert. Go to the dealer and spend about...
Flea bay has the military stencils right now. The guy has three different sizes. They are brass and slide together to form the word. Very durable, a lot better than paper ones. I have a set somewhere in all my crap that an ex navy guy gave me about 30 years ago. They are sweet. Just put in...
Oh, and try to get the column with the delay wiper switch and control module. I'm gonna want that too. :) I'll even pay the return shipping, I'm just a nice guy ya know.
