Gents,
All good suggestions. The sound is not rhythmic at all. It happens even on paved roads. I checked some of the cab mounts and they were tight, but I'll check the rest of them. I think it is not the motor mounts because even slight bumps launches whatever it is. I watched the hood and it...
My M915 has a very distinct, heavy thumping on mildly rough roads. It sounds as if there is a 50 pound weight on a few inch long lever arm that is banging around down there in front of the driver. It sounds like something is loose and hitting the frame. Nothing seems to be loose. Runs fine...
The Ouija board operators at the weather stations are projecting good weather for the Duvall classic car show and mil vehicle show. All eras and types are welcome. Mil vehicles get in free. On the preregistration, just indicate that it's a mil vehicle. Hope to see as many of you as I can there!
Jim

There is a big classic car show in Duvall, WA at the Safeway store in the parking lot. Small town; can't miss it. Duvall is 8 miles south of Monroe, WA on highway 203. You can see the poster at http://bigrockclassiccarshow.com/ This is a charity event that raises money for prostate cancer...
Cummins Northwest told me that boost is an accurate way to judge horsepower. On the ntc400 you get all 400 hp when you have 25 psi. 17 psi means about 300 hp. Thanks for the replies. Jim
Y'all...
I have a M915 with the NTC400 engine. Don't know if it's a BC1 or BC3. Seems weak. Only develops 17 PSI of boost, and the manual says it should develop about 25 if running right. Have looked through the postings and see things about hot-rodding them for more power, but not seeing a...
Well, the two lines feeding it are the same size, which is typical of a hydraulic motor, not a pump. Pumps usually have a large, low pressure intake and a smaller, high pressure output. I tracked down the manufacturer, and they said that the extra, small hydraulic line is a case vent. It's used...
Yes, the intended use for the folding is to take up less space for storage/shipping. As an afterthought, it can be faked into use as a dump trailer. At least a few times, they say.
No, the tail lights are tucked up under far enough to miss the ground.
You unhook the tail gate and use the chain...
The M172 and M172A1 are naturally 10 feet wide. Some have been narrowed, but the originals are 10' wide and would work great with a M818, M915, or M52. All of those are cheap, compared to the OT-90, and they are old enough to qualify for collector insurance rates. I think it would make a dandy...
Physically, you could probably pull it. You could even stop it, sooner or later. Legally, it's way over the published ratings for the truck. Insurance-wise, your truck insurance doesn't cover that kind of towing, and if you ever get in an accident, the insurance company will be off the hook...
Almost sounds like the starter solenoid on the starter got stuck on, and the starter was running, even though the little gear had retracted already. I think the starter solenoid launches a bar forward to connect the heavy 12V to the actual starter motor. Once you get off of the start button...
I use and recommend a propane heater, but not just any one. The Mr. Buddy heater (I think that's the name) is the only on on the market that has a shutdown valve that senses low oxygen. They claim that the safety problems with indoor propane is that carbon monoxide (deadly) can build up. True...
Found this surplus hydraulic motor. It's not a pump. The inlet and outlet are identical. It's a gear motor. But, from what?? It has two bleed ports in the lines as well as a case drain in the back. No tags at all. Want to use it for a winch, but need to figure out the model, so I can look up...
All hydraulic systems have some sort of relief valve somewhere. If the spring broke inside the relief valve, it would not let much pressure build before releasing it away. However, if other hydraulic systems work properly, then you have all the correct high pressure, and the relief valve...
Not really. There appears to be yet another solution. Looks like I could drop the pan and access the Allen head bolts that affix the stamped steel bearing holder to the aluminum plate. The aluminum plate could stay where it is. It can't go rearward because of the bell housing. But if I can...
