    Greetings From Utah

Welcome I'm from Utah, but spend most of my time up in Seattle. There are quite a few Utah members on SS and if you ever get a MV you will find an amazing depth of knowledge and experience on this site.

    M916 - understanding hyd system/wet line

Correct, hydraulic QD (Quick Disconnect) hold pressure. Also as ReoRider pointed out, it would be a good idea to have 1 male & 1 female on bulkhead to make sure hoses are connected properly rather than 2 females on bulkhead and 2 males on the trailer hoses. The valves look different. The A3...

    M916 - understanding hyd system/wet line

I am most familiar with the Pullmaster planetary winches. Most of them do have a small fitting- usually 1/8 or 1/4 inch for an optional external brake release in addition to the internal porting that gets the pressure from the two main hoses that run the winch motor. Pressurizing that external...

    M916 - understanding hyd system/wet line

They are quite a bit different, but same principles would apply. They have a stacked gear pump with 3 sections, you would choose one (or maybe more) of the circuits and plumb your new control valve in. Since you have multiple functions, I think it would make the most sense if you went the route...

    M916 - understanding hyd system/wet line

ReoRider- Wow- I read the thread on your install & I'm even more impressed. As I thought about these posts, it seems like zebedee could also accomplish what he wants to do with a second 3 port selector valve installed right after the existing 3 port valve where existing line that currently...

    M916 - understanding hyd system/wet line

I'll check- the truck & take off parts are up in Montana. I'll call this evening & get a photo tomorrow if it still has it.

hydraulic pump cooler, using trans cooler in radiator

You might want to check the pressure specs on the power steering. Seems like since the steering would be putting out a lot more pressure than the transmission which probably circulates trans oil at pretty low pressure up to cooler. If the power steering always flowed the same direction you...

    M916 - understanding hyd system/wet line

ReoRider, that sure is a clean looking install on the front winch! How much pull is it rated for? I agree that tapping in at the pump gives you a lot more room for ease of working & flexibility on where to install the new valve. I have winch/5th wheel parts available now that we've...

"Bore Sealant" ??? Dexter Axle Q

I think you are being too literal, I think they were calling it out just to make sure seal stayed where it was supposed to and nothing got by on the outside. Regular Permatex would seal any small gaps around the OD of the seal and hence function as a bore sealant. They didn't say Permatex...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

One of those Mk14 rear units for the MK48 with the pintle tongue on it would work. A bunch of them sold cheap at Barstow last year. It would be heavier than necessary, but the price might be right.

    What do you build?

Pete, that is some cool looking stuff. I've never tried TIG, but I know after years of welding thick metal with lots of amperage, I'd have a hard time with anything thinner than 1/4" without some training.

    What do you build?

drill rig build The last drill rig I built started with this which was factory built to drill horizontal holes for fiber optic installation. And finished like this to drill vertical holes.

    Trailer frame repair / pulling???

It is generally not a good idea to weld on frames- welding can create a stress point that causes it to crack. Haven't seen any photos, but are you sure frame even needs reinforcement? If it does, bolting something in would be better.

looking for Line Hauler or HET

In clay almost any tire gets gummed up, a set of chains would be a good investment-especially if you went with the 915

    45Yrs Underground

I vote for the seismic device=maybe some sort of extensometer. The 3 winged centralizer at the top & bottom have a surface designed to grip on something and look like they can move in & out of center section- maybe to connect with the inside of a hole drilled into rock. The drilling company I...

    PNW Info Thread!

Fermont 60kw genset I was wondering if any of you know someone in Pacific NW that is knowledgeable on these generators and/or where we might be able to buy parts? I have one I'd like to get up & running for this winter. A mechanic and I spent a few days going through the TMs troubleshooting...

    GL Spamming?

If they are mostly duplicates, it may be something in the way your computer is syncing with the email server. Mostly I've seen that happen with MS Outlook where it somehow doesn't recognize that it has already downloaded an email, so your computer downloads the message again & again every time...
