I have an almost identical truck.... M1028 with a LQ4, 4L80E, & NP205. Really has turned into an awesome truck. I highly recommend the swap to anyone with the time and means. Much like yours, it will cruise at 75 mph all day long and is reliable enough to fire up and drive anywhere. What...
700R4
I ran a built level two 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives for about 3 years and 20000 miles behind a stockish M1028. Honestly, I loved that transmission. It shifted great and sharp at just the right time. The gearing seemed perfect for 4.56 w/ 33" tires with the 6.2 diesel. It would cruise...
If it is a 4wd 4L80E, pull the rear speed sensor plug out and see if the reluctor tone ring is already installed. I have seen two, post-2000, 4wd 4l80Es with the ring installed for whatever reason. When I rebuilt my 4wd 4l80E, I just added the rear reluctor tone ring. Unfortunately to...
Just a heads up for those looking into the swap.....the ORD engine crossmember does not clear the LS truck oil pan with Dirty Dingo or Tejas mount adapters in combination with energy suspension inserts. It has better clearance than the stock crossmember, however it will still hit the oil pan...
I have the Classic Instruments cluster. As with everything, there are some things I like and some I do not like. It is nice having an electric tachometer and speedometer. None of the factory gauges were working and my engine swap electronics had the capability to run electric gauges with no...
My apologies for bumping an old thread. My intention is just to archive the information for future members looking for this air filter.
I recently picked up a 30D36R generator and have been getting it serviced and running. When I received it, it was missing the battery, fuel filter, and air...
If you need the factory wiring/fusible links, let me know. I have a complete set and if I remember right, they were uncut and not modified. Came off for a motor swap and were never reused....
I second MrMikey426, it is a stripped out governor gear. Passenger side towards the rear of the transmission there is a square cover being held on with four bolts. Take the cover off and slide the governor out. The plastic gear on the end is most certainly stripped. I ended up buying one off...
Continued..I forgot I saved these ones too. The 15-19 talks about registering loaner vehicles to, I think, other local government agencies. The 17-27 deals with the SF-97 and where to send the registration package.
I printed these out and took them with me and this seemed to speed up the...
I had some difficulty with this when registering my M1028. DMV kept calling it a 'tactical vehicle'. I spoke with the manager and showed her the truck, she agreed with me it is indeed a pick up truck with a 17 digit VIN with a federal emission label and registered it with no further...
Sounds like the transmission governor gear is stripped out. On the passenger side of the transmission there is a metal four bolt cover about 4 inches by 4 inches. Take the plate off and pull the governor out. Inspect the plastic gear. Super easy fix, but the only place I could find a...
