Now I'm constructing some fold-up/retractable steps (with a landing & handhold) for entering the trailer safely. These steps will be attached to the bumper.
In my response to the question about mounting the license plate, you can observe the added 18" LED (taillight/stoplight) light bars. I mounted these to ensure that my taillight/stoplights were bright. These LED lights were purchased from an online truck accessory store.
I received a question regarding the mounting of the license plate.
The license plate is mounted to a piece of steel angle iron which is welded to a 2" x 2" hitch extension purchased at Lowe's. The hitch extension had to be cut back a couple of inches to insure that the holes in the rear...
Loading even a small amount of camping gear on board makes the trailer look like progress has been made.
I can't wait to get it out on the trail for the first trip.
OK, this weekend I finished the 12v system providing 8 LED light fixtures (including 2 outside spot lights), a 12v power outlet with 10' extension cord, a voltmeter, and two (2) USB charging ports for cell phones.
The 110v system was installed earlier - to include four (4) weatherproof outlets -...
Keep watching this thread. Next, I'm going to install the battery box. After that, I will install the rack for a) generator, b) gas can, and c) the water cooler/LP bottle.
I'll have pictures too.
Finally, I'll show you the 110V and the 12V circuits and accessories on the inside - I have to...
The original PVC pipe was white (which reflects light and heat); but besides the water tanks, I'm in the process of adding a rack with space for a Coleman water cooler which will be full of ice.
The two (PVC pipe) tanks are planned for water for washing up; and for that I might just want some...
I can certainly understand that. I had a difficult time also. I bought mine from an individual near San Antonio, TX. He had advertised it on Craig's List.
Now I'm installing two 110v circuits for charging batteries, lights, heaters, fans, and cooking.
Then I'll install some 12v circuits for charging cell phones, lights, and my CPAP machine.
I purchased the bumper and Rhino spare tire carrier on eBay.
This past weekend, I added a gun cabinet/closet and mosquito netting - see picture.
Also, a friend of mine is almost complete with his build using a foldout tent - see picture. He also changed out the tires to the smaller Dodge...
Change of weight bias - M1101
No, the trailer still pulls like the extra weight wasn't even there.
The bumper plus Rhino spare tire carrier w/tire added about 350lbs to the rear of the trailer; but the interior plywood w/cots added about 200 lbs spread evenly throughout the trailer.
The...
Next, I will be adding a rack over the tongue of the trailer for generator, gas can, water storage, LP gas, and coolers. I'll probably start that next week.
I have already put together the inside of the trailer to handle two bunks (two cots each), a coat closet, and storage - see pic.
The bumper and Rhino spare tire carrier were purchased from eBay. Bumper cost about $200 (including shipping); Rhino cost about $650 (including shipping). Installation cost about $450 (including parts & machining).
