Just for what is is worth. Figuring in for the inefficenties of Inverters if you are drawing 200 watts then you are pulling close to 20 amps off of that battery. With a 100 amp alternator or not, you are still overcharging on battery in the chain?
May Favorite way to go about it is to use a cheap 24v to 12v converter. There is usually an adjustment inside that will allow you to turn the voltage up to 13.8 volts and then use that to charge a separate 12v battery with a 1/2 ohm resistor in series with the positive terminal to prevent...
Welcome wildman. Yep, works great, for a little while. One battery ends up dying quicker, the other gets overcharged. There are some equalization systems out there that prevent this. You truck may have one.
The battery is a good idea. If you are using the 30amp 12vdc to charge a battery, you really should put a resistor in there for current limiting to the battery. One shorted cell could make for a bad day as it burns up your unit. A 1/4 Ohm 100watt resistor should do it. This will limit the...
Or pull it straight on and put blocks on the frame at the end on the bed holding it a couple inches above the tailgate (opened of course) then strap everything so it can't move. It shouldn't be too hard if you do it right.
I Don't know the Astro off the top of my head, but most minivans the back wheels are closer to the rear than the front wheels are to the front(That statement makes since in my head). Maybe if you back the van on the bed, the front wheels would clear the tailgate. Just food for thought.
I have been using one that looks identical on 24v graters and dump trucks for two way radios for about 3 years now. I have only had one problem with mine, there is a POT inside that gets dirty and causes 0 output voltage. It is very easy to correct. Just use a screwdriver to move the POT back...
Yep, but on the 24v truck one + is connected to one -, on 12vdc truck both + and both - are connected together in the vehicle. you would create a short unless you remove the cables from the batteries on the 12vdc side.
Just some random facts about batteries while we are on the subject.
Current is constant in a series circuit. Lead Acid batteries charge based on current. If you replace your batteies, you should always replace in pairs. if you have one battery in a series charging circuit, it will most...
I think your dodge cummins is 12vdc. with both batteries in parallel (both +
s together and both -'s together). If you tried to hookup 2 sets of jumper cables to a 24v system, you would short the dodge truck. Will will likely burn a hole in your hand in about a second and the batteries would...
With a yard like that I'll bet you are glad you got the deuct with wench instead of without. Me thinks you need a rear wench on that.
If laughter is good medicine, your the best doctor I've met. LOL :D
RE: Not as much as a "road" trip, more like a &quo
That is funny. I am really suprised. Am i right, they ran the wench cable do and under the truck to pull it from the rear? A pully there would have been a good thing. I didn't think the deuce's bumper could take that like it did. I was...
What do you recommend in South Louisiana where the winters get down to the blistering 30's 2 or 3 nights a year and is usually 40 - 50's by sun-up? ok, kidding. Serious though. What temp does gelling of diesel usually occur and at what temp does it go away? Just curious.
