Oooh yeah!! I’ve been messaging him for advice. Thanks for the video though, it’s very good!
*UPDATE* Today I cleaned a handful of plugs, connections, and fixed the frayed end of the thin ground wire. I have to now think the Card is Bad? The other day I got it to Click when I stuffed a wire and...
My M1009 won’t start, it tries but doesn’t turn over. I replaced the GlowPlug Relay, GlowPlugCard, The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (the sensor at the back of the engine drivers side). Months back I also replaced The Engine Coolant Temperature Switch, the sensor that’s at the back of the...
...glows and it's not a problem. Outside of that, converting the temp sensor to a switch would make a simple TDR function much like the glowplugcard. If you did need afterglow, you could use one of those horrible momentary buttons to manually control the glowplugs as needed.
Course I'm...
I have been experiencing problems replacing the glowplug circuit board in my M1009 and I would appreciate any suggestions:
Problem #1:
After getting the GP card holder separated intact from the steering column; I am having difficulty in separating the back of the GP Controller board holder...
My recently acquired M1009 didn't actually come with a card. It currently has a toggle switch that I hold for 10 seconds which I actually like more than the reliance on a circuit board TBH. I'll probably get the circuit board anyways because it's an "original" part but that's the only reason...
...the rapid failure of all the rest in just a few seconds. But, that is another can of worms.
There are replacements to the stock glowplugcard available from members of this forum. So, if that is your problem, some retail therapy can solve it.
The -20 Technical Manual has a great step by...
That looks like a nice one! For a guy who doesn't claim to know how to fix cars you're doing great...one thing with the starter there should be a bracket bolted to the front of the starter to the engine to help brace it...there's 2 different ones depending on which starter you get...other thing...
...signal lever not catching.
Rear windows only goes half way up because the regulator gears are stripped.
Manual glow-plug switch and no glowplugcard.
Breather tube to the front axle (diff) snapped off.
...and of course noticing all of the cool items in the truck that you don't see on...
Hey man sorry for the delay… I was trying to get my 6.5 trucks going.. anyways. So I just saw this video:
He put in a manual glowplug switch and he said it needs to go to the relay to switch and switch to ground. My truck.. the damn kid put the ground wire back to the pink wire that goes to...
...jiggle until I heard the relay click and then get back in to start it up.
I ended up replacing that connector, sensor, relay and the glowplugcard. I haven't thought about it in more than 10 years now. Follow the steps in the -20 manual. Mine had that many not testing correctly every...
...model can be easily powered from the radio rack on the 1009..and you can get real power. A 2000 watt model is easily powered.
Get a good tool kit, spare belt set and other parts. Glowplugs, relay and a glowplugcard are great to have before they are needed. A multimeter rounds out the kit.
I like the sound of adding the T fitting so I can keep all my dummy lights. Thanks for all the great ideas I have projects for days. Lol
Have you heard of the Paradox by design
Military CUCV Cooling Upgrade System...
I forgot you could add the sensor to the head but you’d have to either ditch the dummy light sensor or the glowplugcard sensor or make a T fitting to house both.
The button works fine for me. I live in Alabama so the lowest temps we see normally would be in the teens. A 3 to 5 second hold on the button usually does the trick. If it's in the teens I may have to do it twice.
Getting it back to the glowplug controller card and wait light could be a major job or a simple job. Without seeing it I am not sure how they did the manual glowplug setup. I never done one. Mine were always on the circuit card controller. The newer circuit card control cards have fancy...
