I have been having trouble with my feul system lately. A week or so ago General Granite sputtered a died, I was able to limp home and died as I pulled into the driveway. I was able to start back up and let it cool down. I had to work the next day so I was going to wait tell I got off work to...
General Granite is still not running, but it is still a good holiday weekend. After all there is finally a SS member right here in Grand Island, Ne. and I was fortunate enough to have Diecorpse and his wife and son stop over for a few minutes (in this part of the country SS members are a...
I watched it spin. I put on 2 different hoses and blew thru them. But could the pump be spinning backward. All the pumps I have are take offs and did not look to see if it is spinning the right way.
I had my itp out today and replaced it with a used one, it will spin but there is no fuel coming out. I ran it before I attached the line. What would cause that?
I made a filter system based on one of the SS member designs using a 100 pound propane tank and 2 house filters and a water blocking filter. I use air pressure to force it threw.
Here is a picture of the intake side of my turbo. I would love to have a D turbo, I just do not have the money. How much do you want for it. It was a non-turbo that I added a turbo to. And yes I am talking about the ip timing.
Patracy Did you get your HH replaced, and if so, did it help. Did you replace the O-rings when you did this. I see that you run waste oil from your first post. Do you have to run a different type of o-ring if you run wvo?
I looked at the intake and exhaust sides last night and there was an oily residue on the intake. What would cause that? I read a good thread on the HH and this sounds a lot like the issues I have been having. I have ran out of fuel 2 times since I got it. Once it started to die about .5...
Thanks for the info. This might be what is wrong with General Granite. I have been losing power slowly since I have got it and I have tried everything that I could do cheep. I even added a turbo thinking that might help. I will have to save my pennies and try a new HH.
The ball joints seem to be holding up fine. I do not think that I am taxing the old system any more than when you dump the air when you are done driving for the day. I have a manual lever behind the seat that I use to inflate and deflate the bags. The only real difference is that now my...
The suspension is holding up fine. The compressors did not have a big enough holding tank to lift the truck with a load, so I removed the compressors an added that tank to the tanks that the truck came with. I also removed the electric ride height adjustment as the self levelers were not...
I have ran about 2 tanks of fuel since the last filter change. One was pure fuel and the other one is black gold. It ran fine the day before. It was cold here yesterday so I thought that the fuel might be the case, so I scraped $25 together and thinned down the mixter. I have a pyrometer...
It wasn't broke per say. I changed the timing to the to the turbo setting and was taking it for a trial run. That is just the spot that I always park when I go to Wally world. What Brought you to Grand Island, Ne.? The timing adjustment did not help as I had hoped or I just might have not...
I finally got around to adjusting the timing on General Granite. Last year I added a turbo to the General, but I did not adjust to the turbo timing setting until today. I read the manuals and what ever thread that I thought might have information that would help. It looked simple enough...
The weather is finally getting warmer here in Nebraska, and it is time to do some needed maintenance on General Granite. I have not driven it much lately do to very soft brakes. I have never adjusted the brakes and I think that would be a good place start. I have bleed the brakes several time...
I tried the easy out and some pb blaster.
I thought about taping it and put a smaller plug in it. Then I would have to try to get the plug out that it is suppose to go to.
I was told to try to cut it with a saw and nock it out with a punch.
I went to remove the t in the second picture (above) since the one the went to the fire box die not have a sut off and I just had it caped off with a rubber cap that was starting to crack.
That line was plumber to a port under the cylinoid.
When I went to take it apart the pipe broke off flush...
I just finished changing General Granite's boots.
And I was having trouble getting the large clamp on as it seems that so many have.
Then I remembered that I had several of the small wood working bar clamps.
As I got the boot in placed I put a clamp on to hold it. 4 clamps worked great and...
