So my M1009 just started leaking 2 days ago. Leak is a clear slick fluid- smells like diesel kleen (?) I'm taking the truck out for a highway drive a few hours away this weekend, so I'm hoping I can get this fixed. I'm still basically a newb so I'm completely ignorant of what's going on here...
So I've been driving the M1009 as a daily driver for about a month now with no real incidents. Then tonight I drove to the grocery store. When I came out, and fired it up, I flipped up the service light switch and pulled out the knob. No lights. No headlights, no taillights, no turn signals...
So yesterday, it was about 10 degrees out when I started the M1009- probably the coldest start for her yet. When I got to work (only about a 1.5 mile drive), I noticed a small amount of coolant leaking from under the driver side- looked like it may have been coming from area around the overflow...
So, the M1009 has been running great, changed the oil, air & fuel filters. All other fluid levels are good. But the weather has been below 30 degrees for the past 3 weeks. This morning, when I started her, she fired right up, but sounded pretty rough. Lots of engine rattle and growl. With...
Okay, so I just finished changing the oil/filter and air filter tonight. Who knew the M1009 could run so quietly? The oil was absolute sludge, and though the air filter wasn't exactly filthy, it has a sticky yellow film completely clogging it. From starter fluid? Anyway, it was 30 degrees...
So, the weather's warming up, and it's time to get my hands dirty. This summer I'll be driving the M1009 halfway across the country. I've got a good 10 weeks to get her ready. So here's the plan. Let me know if I'm missing anything critical, or any part numbers stand out as glaringly wrong...
Having just picked up my M1009 from GL a little over a week ago, I finally got around to cleaning it up a bit. (This, after a good session in the mud, which will require another post). The dash cover was caked in dirt and dust when I picked it up, and figured it would just need a bit of windex...
So after about 2 weeks, just found out the EUC cleared. A buddy and I are driving to Jefferson City tomorrow to pick up our M1009s and his M101 trailer. Got with GL this afternoon and set up the appointment. Our contact on site says one isn't starting now (they were both driven to the location...
Hey all-
So, um, yeah. I'm gonna swallow my pride and confess, I'm a total newb. After driving the snot out of our humvees in Iraq, I decided I was sold on MVs. Didn't have the $ for one of those, so I defaulted to the predecessor. Have driven a few 1009s and love 'em. Almost bought one...
Suggestions for CUCV Wiki info
So I was looking at the CUCV wiki and reading through the TMs, and just thought the wiki could be updated a little bit with some more info. I'm just a noob, so I'm probably not the guy to post the info. Of course, I realize the TMs have all the required info, but...
Hey all! I'm new to the mv ownership thing, but have been looking to buy a solid M1009 for some years now. Finally about have the cash together, but not too many around it seems. Drove a local one this week, but the price was just a bit high IMO. I think I can do better. $3k with some...
Hey all!
Been looking into mil vics for quite some time, esp. the CUCV family. Got a small bit of schooling with military diesel engines in Iraq and fell in love. Can't afford a Humvee, so I think I'll get the next best thing. Have been reading for a few months and decided it was time to...
