RE: More RC 2008 . . .
Thanks for the pics Andy! I don't understand why every time I see pics I'm supposed to be in, I only see some old, fat, bald guy? Anyways...that was one steep downhill by the power lines. When we got out of the trucks afterwards, it sounded like someone pulled a cork...
That was OLDCHEV4X4, he said that he'd get the video up asap....."Unfortunately my camcorder is hi8 and posting video is gonna be a task. But i'll work on it. " are his exact words for an earlier post. I'm anxious to see them!
There was a bit of a "pucker factor" on that ride, wasn't there!?! I still can't get over what kinds of terrain these trucks can cross! Lance, your M1008 hung in there pretty well....that morning trail ride was not fit for walking on in spots, and the M1008 made it! You only high centered it...
Great Pics!! They don't show how steep, rocky, and narrow, the trail was along the power lines. You can only really appreciate it in person. You guys HAVE to go next year...it was a hoot! BTW, there were a couple of time I thought we may have needed to use the wrecker, but luckily didn't...
I was 2 trucks back from N0.2Diesel in my 5ton tractor....he made the trail a little more "5 ton friendly" with his 900 series. The first sign that I noticed of what he was doing would be the sudden "fall" of leaves...followed by the "offending" tree slowly falling forward. He moved several...
RE: Murphy
Hey M37Dodge, I'm going up Saturday morning as well...I'll be leaving the Gap area around 6am, taking Rt 772 to RT 501. Care to convoy? I'm currently sick, but am on meds and should be good to go Sat.am. Rick
RE: Truck is progressing steadily
Hey Maddawg, I'll be arriving around 8 am Saturday, so I won't be in the Friday convoy. Put me down for a "Large" size t-shirt. I'll be bringing the XM818A1, even though I put the new leaf spring bushings in the Suburban yesterday, I think the tractor will...
I'll be bringing the tractor, I never got around to fixing the Suburban. I'm thinking I'm about 1 1/2 hours South of RC, so I'll leave about 2 hours before you guys think you'll hit the trails. The only thing that will prevent me from coming would be heavy rain...call me a puss, but I don't...
Hi David, No LED lights....just the amber lightbar on top. I'll be at RC on Saturday, so I'll look your sons up. I'll be bringing my XM818A1 w/5th wheel wrecker. I'm about an hour and a half South of RC....your sons are welcome to park the trucks here, but it's alot of driving back and...
Here's another fly droppin'...I'm down to just coming on Saturday. My wife's work schedule changed today, so I have to pick up the kids after school on Friday. On the plus side, I finally bit the bullet, and antique titled the XM818A1 today. I couldn't get anyone to write me RT Tag insurance...
Desertfoto: The parts you need are available, you just have to find them close. You'll get spanked big time on shipping. if you can't find it close.
alphadeltaromeo: Thanks Dude! That's alright, I talk like that sometimes as well..... I'm not sure what you mean by generous though...
RE: c
Very Cool! I had an M109 I converted into a camper...but sold it in 2000. I hope to get an x-van or regular van trailer, to convert, and pull with the 5 ton tractor. Keep us posted on this truck! Rick
Here is a pic of my 5th wheel wrecker. It is a Monarch "Dyna-Boom" Model M-642. I can take more pics for anyone who needs them. BTW, does anyone have a manual for my particular model? Thanks, Rick.
Hi Madame, welcome to the site! I checked out your pics on myspace, besides military vehicles, are you into Airsoft, or are those real weapons you are handling? Either way, there's just something about a woman in camo! Rick.
RE: RC
Yeah, when the previous owner insalled the new lifted leaf springs, he used those poly bushings. The fronts cracked and fell out this summer, and the rears just this past week. I normally only drive the truck about 15 miles a week, so I've been putting off replacing the bushings. I...
RE: RC
Hey Guys, I'm still trying to get the XM818 insured. I want to "work" it, and the most cost effective way is to use the RT(Repair/Service, Towing) Tag. The tag for the tractor normally would be $751.50, and an RT tag would be $36.00, plus it can be flipped between vehicles like a...
Thanks for the compliments guys! Sorry to not answer your questions earlier, but I hadn't noticed that this post was active.
Hoot: I have alot of pics of the truck, is there a certain area you'd like to see?
Taylord: I had the canvas covers made by Mona at New Life Canvas, 952-758-3879...
