The amount of home-brewed biodiesel is so small compared to the commercial guys that it is under the radar. I made BD for a couple of years and produced much more than my three diesel powered vehicles could use so I sold my plant to someone who had a much greater demand.
I remember the story...
It looks like the aux. switch has two positions, dim and park. The dim works well. The diagram shows that when in park it turns on the front parking lights. So, the problem must be in that circuit.
Usually, when there is a short, the circuit draws too much current and I would think the...
O.K. I am a new owner of my 1967 Kaiser Jeep M35A2 and was learning about the lights and what the different positions on the switch control. All positions work as expected except the interior (dash) lights. When placed in "dim" the lights come on and are in fact dim. When switched to the...
Lax,
It sure is looking like your pre-heater is not working at all. If the engine doesn't burbble, stutter or exhibit any changes while cranking with the flame heater switch on, it seems to me that there is no heat in the air inlet manifold. If the engine cranking performance does change...
Thanks Derby, for your informative description of the flame heater. I thought that was the way it operated but was not sure.
I worked in the Artic for over 20 years and we used to start Ford and Chevy diesels at -30/-40 by spraying WD-40 into the air cleaner inlet. These were glow plug...
I would like to know exactly how the inlet air pre-heater works. I have read the data that I have available and it seems to me that this is basically an injector device that is spark plug fired only when the dash switch is in the "on" position. (My Cummins Dodge engine has an electric manifold...
I am looking at a picture of the top of a 1968 FI pump and the seals where the lines to each cylinder attach to the pump look pretty cracked and even the housing appears to have cracks in it. My question is how serious is this? Can rubber seals leak here or do they just position the tubing in...
If it is the exact problem you might want to look for another cause other than the starter. As vehicles age the cables and connections are less efficient and create voltage drops. A starter solenoid requires quite a bit of current to operate and if the wire to the solenoid is not up to snuff...
I am in central NM between Tajique & Chilili. About 40 miles SE of Albuquerque on the east side of the Manzano Mountains.
I get up in your area quite often in the summer. We hold SCCA auto-x events in Farmington at the casino parking lot.
O.K. I get the point.
I even hesitated about posting that observation because I thought it had probably been talked about before.
I do have some technical expertise in building web sites--I have done several for national organizations as well as smaller ones where I sell some products. I...
Mike,
I have used BD since 2005. I have put it in 3 Cummins Dodges, a Jeep Liberty and a Ford tractor. With the tractor I found that it took about 6-7 months for any problems with hoses to set in.
Also, with the wife's Jeep Liberty I found that if I blended greater than B40 the fuel pump...
All they are illustrating with this picture is the colors produced by different feed-stocks. Rapeseed will produce different colors than WVO or soy. Those guys at Utah Biodiesel Supply know what they are doing.
The main thing to consider when using BD is whether the seals in the injection...
