Another thing it could be. The input bearing could be going out. I had a metal grinding and clanking noise in my Deuce in 5th gear only, and it was the input bearing broken. Good Luck.
Today a lot got done. First I removed the back axle. I had to use the cherry picker mounted in the bed to pull out the carrier. My floor cherry picker is still at Dads. This having tools at two locations is starting to get old. Once the old carrier was out I had to scrape for what seems like...
I hadn't thought of mounting them vertical. I was going to make a mount so I could stack them one under the other. I intend to lock the front too with an ARB. I like the idea of throwing the switch vertical though more. Now I have to go back to the drawing board. Thanks for the idea. I'll post a...
Eventually "read Long time from now" I am going to upgrade to the Ouverson alloy axles. But for now the stock axles will due, especially since I am not going to be doing anything crazy with the Deuce. I just wanted a little better traction off road. And only when I need it. I've been fine...
I've had this ARB air locker sitting around for about a year now and finally have the time to install it. I've taken a few pictures and will take more as I get it installed and working. The ARB uses 90 PSI with a 12volt solenoid. I am not going use the solenoid and instead use an air actuated...
I rolled across the scales at a little over 32,000 lbs GVW certified with weight tickets on my move from Ca to Ga. The weights were after I had burnt 345 gallons of fuel that I was carrying in the bed. My Deuce is Bobbed and on 395's. She could hold 55 on the flats pretty easy.
Look at my trailer build. I used 105 master cylinders with deuce axles and the stock deuce walking beam suspension. It would be very easy to use the 105 axles on that type of suspension. I almost went that route at one time. I built my whole trailer for just over 3000 bucks. Good luck. If you...
Welcome. I am stationed on Pendleton for a couple more days. I drive a bobbed Deuce and park it at the airstation in the gravel. Get to know the motor poolguys out at Las Pulgas. They are always willing to help with our trucks
I just had to patch the roof of my camper. It's been in storage for three years. A rat ate through the roof. Took all the insulation and piled it under my bed as a nest. Unfortunate for him I moved his house 300 miles and am about to move it again.
I drive mine 100 miles a day as my daily driver. I have a back up truck though if I need it. I am a nut when it comes to preventive maintenance. PM. I change the oil every 5000 miles with Rottella. I change the fuel and air filters every 12 months. I drain and refill the diffs, transfer case...
I am sorry to hear about your intake, but you just saved me. I have been having the same problem with mine trying to get that plug out. I finally today just got the lower plug out cleanly. So I am going to put a step up in that spot and use it.
Trailer done
TRAILER DONE. At least until I get moved in Feb. Thanks for all the advise I got from y'all. As it sits right now I have 12 tie down points per side. 8 tires on the ground. Double redundant brake system. 5 spare tires for the cross country. And a lot of faith that I have way over...
Maybe I missed it but, you are able to steer your fully hydraulic steering system with no pump providing pressure. Are you using a single or double ended ram. I am still trying to decide what steering system I want to use. Any info about your system would be really helpful and your experiences...
I've been busy the last couple days on the Deuce and the trailer. I'll post pictures tomorrow of the changes but here's the list and some info for those looking to build a trailer for a Deuce. I used the stock M105 trailer master cylinder. I also used the breakaway tank from the M105 too. The...
I just installed the same heater/AC system you have. I was wondering how you came out with the wiring. I am at the wiring point and am stumped. Any help you can give I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for the info. I have 8 gallons of the gold anti freeze. After this weekend I'll have the heater and all new coolant hoses installed so I'll run the gold, that way I don't have to buy any new stuff.
I'm going to drain the whole system and change all the coolant hoses at the same time that I add the heater. So compatibility shouldn't be an issue between the antifreezes. I just am not sure if its a good enough anti freeze for the Deuce. Although it's what I run in my 6.0 stroke.
