Nice score. Wish we had a decent yard around here I could go scrounge. Need all kinds of parts for mine. Doors, hood, window frames, and the list goes on. Could just use a whole nother cab if I could find someone scrapping one out.
Are the 5tons and duece cabs the same as far as doors and...
So I may not get to put my hands on this thing until end of next week or possibly after. Can anyone tell me anything about this generator that's in the truck?
Supposedly they had some trouble with it, but I think they said it was something to do with the PTO. Once that's fixed, is it worth...
Best of luck with that last one. It's always one that has to cause issues huh. :?
Keep us updated on what it takes to get it cleaned up. Once I finally get mine home the first thing I'm doing it tearing town the tires and brakes and going through them as it leaks fluid right now. I'm not...
I got an offer to start picking up grease from a restaurant here soon. Guess no one is picking it up anymore for biofuel so he offered it to me. I'm told he puts it back in 5gal jugs that it comes in when he changes out the oil every so many days.
Does anyone run fryer grease or oil in their...
I should just go file a police report being that he literally sold something that wasn't his and get it back and let him deal with the guys he sold it too, but I can't bring myself to do it.
He doesn't have the winch anymore, and what's left on the truck I'm keeping because I'll be replacing the winch eventually. Right now they're running almost as much as I paid for the truck.
They actually unbolted the winch, but then torched the pto shaft at both ends.
 I actually won the winch in a coin toss and let a guy 'use' it for a bit. He sold it within 2 weeks for $200 and now it doesn't look like I'll even be able to buy it back.
Funny thing is he's been trying to sell this thing for some time and I didn't know it. I'd have been all over it much sooner when he was asking 2k for it but he was selling it to construction companies and the like. No-go with them and he didn't know where to turn to. Good thing I knew I wanted...
I'd love to see how this turns out. How much is the permanent tag going to cost. I could keep it under 5000 miles a year if I can save some cash on a tag.
Just got my '67 M63a2 and I'm trying like heck to get it ready in the coming months. Maybe come this winter it'll be road ready...
Sounds like I need to look these gulfway people up. Mind if I ask what some of you are paying a year? I don't plan on driving this thing but a couple thousand miles a year. Maybe pulling my tractor or some such in the deep woods or working over a parade maybe. I don't want to go spending a...
Any pictures of how you're actually mounting them up? I've never had to mount a big rig style tire so I don't have a clue.
Just simple tire spoons and a big hammer or are these things so tough you guys are using machines for big rigs of some sorts?
Mack, I know there's no way the truck will be ready be then as it's just in too bad of shape right now to be shown off, however I may very well try and hit up the show just to meet some fellow SS guys. It'd be good to meet someone else who is as crazy as I am. :P
So I've been looking in the 5 ton area. Seems almost nothing about this truck is known, unless I'm just totally looking up the wrong terms. (I wouldn't doubt this. :P) Either way, do I need to start now posting all my dumb newbie questions in the 5 ton forum? You guys were so very helpful...
Deals done. I pay him $1500 next week and it's already titled in florida so he says. The only equipment that I know of left in it is the welder and generator. I'm really curious to see what works or needs work.
I know the brakes need something as the master will run dry after it's sat a...
Couple more of 2 tags. One is so hard to read I got two different angles.
Kinda funny, I couldn't even read the tag in the truck because of the glare, but now that I'm home I can make out the 5 ton tag. :cookoo:
Here's a couple pics from the phone now that I'm home for a second.
First and 4th picture are of the rear and side. Second is the pto with 6 belts powering the generator. Any info on that btw? Like how big it was and where I could get parts for it. Seems like it had a bearing go out, or maybe...
It looks a lot like that, but I know its not a gas engine. The first one posted looks almost exactly like mine, except for a while lot better shape than mine.
