Why the fuss about the truck being a Marine truck anyway? The trucks are similar to Army iron surely and there would be a larger pool of trucks to pick from if you went the Army Strong way.
It's truely a pity about those HMMWVs but they won't be sold to the general public in my lifetime. I had a chance to drive a turtleback towards the end of my career in the Army and it was a slick little machine - even better in my opinion than the civilian Hummer.
I have never heard of anybody...
I've only had my M882 since August, but I have experienced mucho electrical problems. The dash gauges went squuirrely and stopped reading correctly; the instrument lights for the turn indicator worked when they felt like it;' the park lamp and tail lamps went out; when they were fixed, then the...
Thanks but I really can't take the credit for the paint. That was applied by the dude at Alfa Heaven who I bought the truck from. So far as I know, it's just simulated CARC paint.
I've had people ask me if I want a trailer for it to pull my crap; in fact, one of the people who works in DMRO...
Being a rookie and not having dealt with Government Liquidation before, I don't know but does that video imply that HMMWVs are hard to get? I have seen some at the Iola (WI) Military & Gun show being offered for sale, but they tend to be early models from the 1980s. What about General Motors...
Nice work on the CUCV!:-D I'm curious though about the console with the cup holders. Was that a standard feature of the M1009 CUCV K5 Blazer? Maybe my memory is failing me but I don't remember such a fancy console in any 1009 that I drove in the service. It may perhaps be also a fact that the...
OK I checked all lights and found that the only bad one was a 1157 bulb in the left rear. I replaced that one with a new one and it seems to be good now. Lighting test results are as follows:
1.) Headlamps - OK both low and hgh beam
2.) directional indicators - both left and right (front and...
I happened to notice recently on my M880 that the parking lamps are not on when the headlights are on. There's nothing wrong with them. They flash when I use the turn signals and they seem to be on when I have the light switch puled out to just the parking lamp setting, but I thought that they...
I haven't seen light sets like this in years. They were the bane of my existence in the Army though as a supply sergeant in a maintenance company. All that stuff to keep track of and I was forever requisitioning expendables. And they were heavy as f#ck so that you needed 2 Snuffys to carry each...
Really? I'm surprised that the docent told you photography wasn't allowed. I went through there in July and nobody said a thing to me and I was snapping pictures left and right. I have pictures of the same Cadillac but mine didn't turn out quite as nice as yours.
I did see a bust in the gift...
I saw this old post and was amazed at the level of detail the OP went to to create a Suburban model of the CUCV. Nice job. Did you put in the bayonet socket for the STE/ICE diagnostic tool too and does it work? :D
The only GI Suburban I ever saw was formerly in the USAF and painted blue. The...
I saw Patton's wartime van in the museum when I was down at FT Knox in September. It's great that it's going to be restored to its former glory.
It's a shame though that all the armor was shifted to FT Benning when the Army decided to combine the Armor school with the Infantry School and...
Welcome to the site and it looks like you have a clean and straight deuce! Hope your recovery goes well without problems.
I bought my M880 from a dealer and he reported having no trouble in obtaining a Wisconsin title with just the SF 97 paperwork. When I bought the truck he gave me all the...
I guess you've never been in the military then. Bored 88Mikes when they're swinging the lead smoke like chimneys in their trucks. The trick is to get all the evidence out of the truck before you turn it in at the motor pool at quitting time. rofl
Thanks for the information. 8) I see condition codes are given as well with the average price noted for each one. It's good to know that I was dealt with fairly when I bought mine.
