***zombie thread warning**
I know it's a long shot but were you ever able to find those pics? I am looking for an LP mounting option that doesn't involve adding a bunch of holes to my truck. I have found a few good ideas on other threads which I might research as LP mounting options.
My remote master cylinder reservoir kit arrived today from big mikes. It will probably be installed after thanksgiving.
I was able to get a few hours of M35A2 driving in today after work. I hit a few county roads and stopped for a few glamour shots along the way at an old abandoned fuel stop...
Disregard this post. I tested some cords and it (the port I was asking about) is a 3.5mm jack. I should have checked before asking.
I am slowly geting together all the pieces/parts for my version of your console.
I probably won't go the full 9.75 in deep but it is going to be pretty similar.
It sucks getting old. When I bought my m35a2 in 2010 I was 23/24 years old. I drove it back to Texas from Boyce Equipment in Ogden, UT over a long weekend. I was able to rock 10-12hr days in the saddle. Now I am sore after a 7-8hr drive.
Very much so!!! I LOVE to put miles on my KLR as well as the M35....but my back/spine doesn't share my enthusiasm. By the time I made it home I was pretty sore. It felt GREAT to finally plop into my bed and relax.
I drove it 260miles from my parents house in Carrollton, TX back home to Memphis, TX.
I left memphis on my motorbike at 830am and was in dallas by 2pm. After a quick lunch and a quick nap I was on the road in the deuce @430. 430pm is the worst time to be driving in the metroplex. It took me...
thank you sir! I am going to attempt to build a similar design for my M35A2. thanks for the inspiration/design idea....I doubt I could have thought of that on my own.
I am researching installing some gauges in my M35A2. The issue I am finding is that I can't find a mounting location I like (the pictures I have seen look a bit awkwardly installed and don't really blend in with the vehicle).
Has anyone on this forum ever looked into running a marine MFD as...
This console idea is PERFECT for what I am looking to do. I absolutely LOVE it!!!
How "deep" is the console from front to back? It is difficult to tell in the pictures (it looks close to 8-10in).
I am getting my old M35A2 back next month. I sold my M35 to my parents back in 2013 (They borrowed it for a parade and fell in love with it). They called me earlier this week and asked if I wanted it back (apparently they are tired of spending the money for monthly storage). Of course I said...
I bolted the wheels/tires to my jeep and rolled her forward a few feet so I could fit my daily ride (97 expedition) under my carport. We are forecasted for baseball sized hail and 5in of rain today...fun fun. *sarcasm*
The only good thing is that my jeep looks GREAT with the painted wheels...
hahaha yea. Back then I was not as confident in tearing down & rebuilding my toys.
Yes, the housing is plastic. I have had good luck with this paint on my plastic motorbike fairings.
I don't see how my end results would be any different on this plastic (both are exposed to sunlight...
I have noticed that used white golights are usually cheaper and more common on ebay. If you want to save some money vs buying a new black model for your MV/Jeep/etc...there is hope!!!
Several years ago I scored a killer deal on a new golight from west-marine (had some gift cards)...
On my project jeep (not the jeep I bought for parts) I am in the same boat...but like you, I don't mind throwing money at it. I am enjoying working/tinkering on a piece of history. It is not about the money..it is about the journey/build.
I can't wait to see pictures of your rig.
Thanks for the replies guys.
I felt (and still feel) pretty stupid after my earlier poor decision. I am glad to hear that I am not the only person on this boat hahaha.
So I got the new rig home and wow... the idiom "a fool and his money are soon parted" holds true.
I should have walked away from the deal but I had Jeep on the brain. I am so angry with myself for not seeing it for what it was.
As I ran through town, I stopped by the coin-op car wash place...
Well big news on the project front.
I scored a parts 1954 M38A1 off craigslist. It looks mostly complete from the pictures which is super exciting. I am hoping that having access to all the various parts including those small bits/pieces will save me some money in the long run vs having to buy...
