    GL Mistakes not all bad

I bid on a M923A1 at French Camp GL and won. I stated does not run, towed in, no batteries. So I decided to keep the bid low and if I won I would hope for something inexpensive or easy to repair. I loaded up the pickup with all the tools, chemicals, batteries, diesel, pumps, electrical, etc. and...

    Transfer Case Bearings

I'm getting ready to order all the bearings for the t-case on the M35A2 after the small input shaft bearings puked their cages. I still don't understand the single shielded bearings being used, was this part of the design and the way they were originally built? Seems like it would restrict...

Determing year of mfg on M923A1

I have searched forums and internet for finding a way to determine the year of a M923A1. Trucks I have seen do not have the year stamped on the data plate on the dash. I would get a truck at least 25 years old so as to register it Historic Vehicle. Apologies if I have missed this posted...

    M923 or m923a1

Howdy, Since I'm not having luck finding an M813 close, I will go M923. Can't decide between M923 and M923A1, duals or singles. I will be only using truck to play with, a few parades, shows, or local drives. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks Randy

    Help with bracket identification

Maybe someone can tell me what these are for. Out of six deuces this is the only truck to have them and they are only on the left side, one bracket in front of mid axle wheels and one behind rear axle wheels. Thanks Randy

Been looking for a 5 ton and noticed one for sale on EBay in SoCal. Any idea what the large hinges are on the outside of one side of the bed only? Thanks

HF Paint Pot & Spray Gun

FYI the Harbor Freight paint pot, at about $ 100 for the pot and gun with 25 ft hoses it works quite well. The regulator that comes with the pot should be immediately thrown in trash and replaced with a decent one. Just needs one or two tee's to mount. Check small packing nuts on gun for...

    Indented Hex Head Bolts

Anyone found a source for the indented hex head bolts that hold the windshield assy to the body. I have braced myself for flaming and the "hey just put a dang bolt in it", but thought I'd be different and ask. They are 3/8-24 X 1 1/4 and I've found plenty of 3/8-16 's. Oh well at least I...

    Rust below windshield

I started prepping our Deuce for paint and have to deal with the couple large rust holes in the vertical piece just below the windshield. Is this piece available and able to be replaced? I've done body work before and have welder/tools. We have another Deuce that has a cover plate over the same...

    Oil Filter again

Searched and didn't find either answer. Changed oil and filters on the deuce, all seemed to go well. First question where to find torque spec for drain plug. I won't lose any sleep over it but would be nice to know. Second, what does the cotter pin on the center post do? The TM says to put the...

    Christmas Came Late

After 3 1/2 months the EUC's cleared on all 5 deuces we won and had them delivered about a week ago. 4 are hard tops and one a soft top, one with winch. 2 have Continentals, 2 have Whites, and one a Hercules (to match the deuce we already had). 2 of them are whistlers. I want to get one of the...

More questions on 5 ton truck

Thanks for the input on the prices. I see what the X stands for in XM813, (pre-productio) what does the S stand for in SM813. I know what S&M stand for, but somehow don't think this applies here. Although owning 4 M35A2's, at times it may seem like it. Also, did the 5 ton ever come with a...

    Rear Axle Grease

Getting ready to put the hubs, new bearings and seals on the M35A2 rear axle. How much extra grease (if any) goes into the hub between the bearings. I tried to find other posts, but have missed it. Thanks Randy PS I did plagerize the George Carlin quote - love it

    M35A2 Rear Wheel Bearings

Great website, forgive me if subject was posted before., I couldn't find it. Recently purchased a '67 M35A2 and all rear axles/sides leaking. Upon removal of bearings and seals I noticed the inner bearing (Timken 3994) and outer bearing (Timken 392) use the same race (Timken 3920). My...
