Yes, I have disassembled the complete hitch, brackets, bridles, and entire bumper assembly in each truck I own (M1008A1, M1028A1, M1031 SECM) to clean them up and remove part of the lower bumper bracket to install no-drill Curt hitches in each. When I installed B&W turnover ball hitches in the...
Wow, this thread is all over the place. It started out on trailers and weights and shifted to non-FMVs. Here's my contribution:
If you tow with that Blazer, scrap that military pintle hook. I have two of those M1009s and have scrapped the hitches on both of them because they are not designed to...
M1031CMT, I don't think your welder is the same as the one for my box. The one I'm looking for will plug right into the 50 amp socket on the control panel. I'm pretty sure it isn't quite as big as yours.
I just had a front and rear axles overhauled in January. Allen at 249 Drivetrain did not have a high opinion of the lunch box lockers at all. I value his advice since manual transmissions, transfer cases, and axles are the only things he works on. He has plenty of carnage from those to show...
Tried the plug in type in one of my trucks. Less than stellar results. If you convert the tail lights, use the big board from LMC. It spreads the light through a cross section of the lens. Skip the LED backup lights and clearance markers. It looks like a little yellow dimple on the front.
I've been seeing those things fetch six to eight thousand if they were in decent shape, with the tools. I was in a bidding war, recently. I just have to bow out when they get over $3000 since I have to ship them or go get them.
It's that rear fender configuration that gets me. I wouldn't mind having it for the appearance, not the traction. Where did you happen across that rig?
I've seen plenty of these SECM trucks, including Darwin's conversion. But I have never seen one in like in the photo. After zooming in on the photo, I concluded that it was built that way and not a conversion.
The SECM trucks go for ungodly amounts on GL. There is no telling what that would...
I would love to have one too. This one is definitely on a base somewhere. I figured that out by looking at the background. Darwin T's has a body from an older Dodge version of the truck. It's a nice one.
I came across this photo by pure dumb luck. It looks as if this truck is on a base. However, I'm very interested.
Has anyone ever come across such an animal?
Tires
Probably beating a dead horse on an old thread. But I've been running these tires for years now. The customer service was second to none. The tires are still running excellent. 32,500 miles on their mud tires and the tire has 11/32" tread depth left. For the quality and the money, I'm not...
Thanks to each of you for your input and help on this.
This isn't the prettiest equipment I've ever owned. But I think it will certainly prove to be one of the more useful pieces of equipment I have. I have a similar setup on an F-350 flatbed truck. The only problem is that all my stuff is...
Next obvious question: What is the correct operator's guide part number for these shop sets? I didn't see anything in the resource section that covers the body. I only see information on the chassis.
Rack
I also see some of these SECM beds with racks on the top. I wonder if that is indicative on the NSN description or something that was added after DoD acquisition.
Nsn
I will check on that when I get home from work.
I figured it had to be quite a difference since the contract price was substantially different.
Obviously, I plan on using this vehicle on the farm. So knowing what exactly I have will help me get the right TM. I hope to have it in service...
Can someone tell me the difference between this NSN: 4940-01-209-8824 and this NSN: 4940-01-209-8825 and tell me how I can tell which type of box I have? I know it works with the 1028A1 and 1031 chassis. I'm just trying to understand what exactly makes them unique enough to get different NSNs...
