I really like living out in b.f.e. in the mountains. Just me & my hounds, & they don't care what I haul home & they're always happy to see me. John
I've had a couple of old chevy trucks with mushroomed or buggered up steering shaft threads. (my m1009 was one of them) I've always been able to champfer the first couple of threads off with a die grinder, & then run a die or even a grade 8 nut on & off a couple of times to repair the threads...
Any pinion seal for a 10 bolt g.m. corp. will work. The only difference between 10 bolt 1/2 & 3/4 tons are the hubs. (8 lug vs. 6 lug) . The M1009s & civi. blazers are the same except for the spring pack. RTV will not work on a pinion seal, but they seal up a rear cover just fine instead of a...
I ussually call them "SENIOR MOMENTS" or sometimes I blame it on brain surgury I had years ago. I tell people ... I used to be really really smart before I had brain surgury. rofl John
I have been thinking of o-d green with a grey, black ,brown & tan flamejob. Old hillbilly hotrodder here, & I've never seen one. I really like to be a little different, but think the flat earth tones just need to be on a military vehical. rofl John
Those are strut type bars going from the frame (in the middle of the truck) going to the rear axel. I just used 1 3/4 crs tubing (3/16 thick sidewall) & welded a plug in them & drilled & tapped 1/2-20 holes in each end for a heim joint (left hand thread on one end & right hand on the other). I'm...
I used to duck hunt in Fallon quite a bit. Small world. Yea I made them up. A little bit of overkill (it seems like everthing I make up) but it will definatly not be scaped off on a big rock. (When in doubt.. build it stout??) This thing will be my daily driver when I finally get it done...
THANKS... I lived in Carson City Nevada for 12 years prior to moving back here 5 years ago. (lotsa rust-free sheetmetal) So I've come to hate woking on prodjects that have that brown stuff eating away at them. This truck had the lift & big tires when i got it, so I had to make a step for it or...
Newbie to the M.V. world & diesels in general (never owned either) & not exactly computer litterate, so bear with as I try to feel my way around this site. Bought a M1009 about six months ago, & was going to change all the fluids..... well... one thing lead to another & I'm still doing...

. They make race car chasis & vehical specific roll bars & cages.(YOU WELD IT) I bought one for my 84M1009 , & it fit with very little trimming for under $300 delivered. They are professionals & are located in PA. U.S.A. I had a guy...
X10 on the wix filters. Filters are no place to try to save a few bucks. (86blazerk5.. I used to have a tool shop on the corner of Ricket rd. & Summit st. ... small world.) John
I've used magnetic drain plugs on quite a few engines, & they do indeed work. But then again I always put a remote oil filter inline on my transmission lines & like to epoxy a magnet in the bottom of my transmission pans. I tend to buy those $12 2 quart wix filters instead of the $2.99 walmart...
I live out in the mountains, in the south, older guy, & still believe in helping out my fellow man when I can. I've been told on several occasions that I'm way to trusting. That being said... I think I'm a pretty good judge of character.. & can ussually tell in about 3 minutes of talking to...
