    $4 a gallon!

I wish the prices were as low here as in the States! We pay 1,30 Euros (1,99 Dollars) for the liter diesel. Thats around 7,50 Dollars for the gallon. That hurts, if you can't feed the truck with transformer oil or other alternatives :-) Mark

    Yellow headlights

Kyle, > I always suspected that the yellow headlight thing on other deuces must have > has something to do with European Traffic or Driving regulations, because too > many deuces have shown up with them on, and I can see how equipment and > spares shipped in from Europe for reuse in Vietnam...

    More PICs of the M35

Nice images! I like to see when the axles of the deuce are articulated, like in the first couple of pictures.

    M52A2 (updated pics)

Adam, great work! Congrats! As for the inverted chevron mystery, my deuce has them too, on both cabin doors. The truck has never been out of Germany as far as I can tell, so it has nothing to do where the truck was assinged to, rather there must be a tactical meaning like visibility or easy...

    Yellow headlights

I have a lot of old picture where one mistakingly thinks the trucks have yellow headlights, but if one looks closer, the lights are painted (or taped) over. See pictures below. I also have a set of new and original yellow sealed beams made by Westinghouse, but unfortunatly they are 12 volt...

    Transmission noise

Ok, thanks for the information, I also found the according TMs ( TM 9-2520-246-34 ff for the record). The noise is really extremely loud. I once drove without ear-protection for about an hour and was half deaf afterwards. I wonder if there is not another problem besides the missing tooth, as...

    Yellow headlights

:-) I love this forum :-) I 'd say I'm interested in your offer if I lived in the States, but the shipping etc makes it too expensive for me now. Mark

    Transmission noise

I pulled the top of the transmission now and found the reason for that loud whining noise in the fifth gear. A part of a tooth is missing of one of the lower gear wheels, and the large gear wheel which slips on it when the 5th is engaged looks battered or pitted. The rest of the transmission...

    A milestone in the restoration!

armyman, I'll leave the lollipop lights of the truck. In fact, I'm lurking for the small, old-style turn signals to retrofit the truck with them. I want the truck to look like it was in the late sixities, and I think from looking at pictures that there were no lollipop-lights and few of the...

    Interesting find

This is a fantastic document, you're real lucky! I've been searching in the cab for relics, too, but all I found was an old haircomb, and a few other small parts.... A nice place to search are the air duct openings in front of the windows, because people like to stick things in there, which can...

    A milestone in the restoration!

maddawg, she looked quite rough and run down, but most bad parts were replaced as a prerequisite for the deal by relativly good used ones (e.g. battery box, seat, bumper, both fenders). Cabin was welded and looked very bad from the inside. Electric is still a mess. Transmission 5th gear is...

    A milestone in the restoration!

thanks guys @gimpy sometimes she has company, when my buddy shows up with his deuce, see below :-) If I ever buy a second one myself I need to buy a shop van, because that's where I will have to move to when my girlfriend finds out.

    A milestone in the restoration!

I want to share a few pictures of the ongoing restoration of my deuce. I commenced work again 10 days ago and spend some time daily on it. Last weekend I applied a coat of OD 24087. I let it settle for a few days now and apply a final coat then. Still left to do: - underside - cleaning...

    NAPA/oil filter M35 questions

A little addition for the WIX numbers: - engine air filters are NAPA numbers with a leading 4 -> 42837 - oilfilters are NAPA numbers with a leading 5 --> 51133 - fuelfilters are NAPA numbers with a leading 3 eg 33540

    Images of a 1943 WC54 Ambulance

Thanks! That building is the "Schloss Nordkirchen" near Münster (built between 1705 and 1734, so its relativly new).

    Turn signal indicator question

Thanks, Bjorn. The latest M35a2 I've seen so far with the old style signals was a 67 model. I just thought that there may have been a hard break. Background is that I might want to retrofit my truck with these old units, but I would not do so if it wouldn't be historically appropriate on a...
