Not to start an argument but this is simply not true. There is a process for agencies to register a tactical vehicle for street use and run exempt tags. Even ones that cant be owned by the department and are on permanent loan to a department. The confusion most have is because the serial numbers...
It seems the M1114 windshields are hard to find. Has anyone had any luck trying to get them looking better once they start to cloud up? Although they would be much easier to see through, it would be pointless to install regular glass instead of the bullet resistant type but I'm having trouble...
The LESO condition and DEMIL codes may be different from what civilians see. Some of the vehicles we get are condition A, which means ready to issue for us. I always go for the best condition codes I can find and personally call the base and speak to the DLA guys/gals that handle LESO property...
Added some really nice vehicles to the fleet. The M1078's are great condition with very low mileage. One of them is equipped with a winch. The old M1009's and M1008's are good shape as well.
Tragic end to this story. Got the engine running just to hear plenty of bad engine noises. Drained the engine oil to check and saw plenty of metal shards on the drain plug magnet. Not tiny metal grains but actual shards of shredded, peeled ferrous metal. Just a guess but I would assume camshaft...
This one actually came from Fort Hood. We also have a M1008 on the way with only 7400 miles on it! A M1009 is waiting for us at Fort Polk. One or two M1078's and we will be ready for the next storm.
We recently got another M1097-A1. Low mileage, runs perfect, inspected, plates, and street tested. Great for in-town driving. Thanks for all the great info on this forum.
What is the difference between the HMMWV's we are getting though LESO and the ones being auctioned? The reason I ask is that according to the DEMIL code, all the ones we look at will never be sold to public because some are light armored, some are up-armored but it looks like some of the ones at...
Sorry about that, I did some searching but didn't see that part. I imagine you guys get tired of us LEO's guys asking about our free HMMWV's. The really sad part is that while we were picking up our M1097 we saw an up-armored variant that was about to be cut up for scrap because no LE Department...
Hello everyone. I picked up our Department HMMWV from Fort Polk (LESO program) a few days ago and need some help. I'm a Lt. and our SRT Commander with extensive mechanics background but have limited knowledge on the GM 6.5 diesel and no experience with the M1097 A1. I have all the Army manuals...
