Good luck with it. My truck had GREAT heat, but we are a ways south of your position!:)
I agree that your friends motor swap is mysterious. I've swapped many GM blower motors like this and not had any problems. But I have also had a few "brand new" parts that didn't work. It is possible that the...
Me! Me! Pick me.....Oh wait I still hafta work!:(
Great thread title! made us all look! And if you ever do decide to bob one of these, you'd better make it VERY fast so that all the reenactors can't catch you and kick your butt!:)
Back when I was young and even poorer than now, I had to pass on...
I'm assuming that you replaced the motor, switch and resistor because you were having a lack of airflow. I would guess from this that you have a plugged heater core or duct work that is restricting the airflow. Them pesky varmits have a nasty habit of making nests in unwanted areas like this. I...
Do you have any pics of this offending hookup? I can't imagine where you got all that play from. The towbar I used had no unwanted play in it. There are pics in my thread above that shows the bar that I used and that tlm uses. And my big tow was 644 miles.:-o
As I posted before, I towed my 1008 from Ft Mead, Md to west-central Indiana a total of 644 miles. I posted the story with pics here http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/25643-644-miles-towbar.html
+1
Also you know that, if you go to You Tube and search, you will find how to boost the power of that jeep. there is a guy on there who makes those little jeeps haul!;-)
I bought my towbar at Autozone and the 2" recievers from Tractor supply. I just drilled the 1" holes in the recievers and relieved the ends with a simple cut-off tool. And with a ball hitch, I didn't have to put up with the slop of a pintle hitch. (If you've never used a pintle, believe me...
If you are just going to tow "local" and not at "70 on the freeway", why go to such expense? The towbar that I and tlm and others used is way cheaper and has towed vehicles for hundreds of miles with no problems. Sometimes we make things too complicated. Just my two cents worth.
I'm glad that you made it alright.:-D This towbar worked great for me in my 644 mile recovery from Ft. Mead to west-central Indiana. Glad that I could help.
Fusible links! (The DREADED fusible links!) GM LOVES fusible links! You need to do a search for Fusible Links to show you where to look for these, but I'll bet good money that you have a link that is fried.
Hello neighbor. I was just thru Plainfield today. I've sold my 1008, but am still very interested in the CUCV vehicles. Enjoy the site. There are many helpful people here who will guide you on the way. (There are also a coupla grumps, but they mean well! )
Enjoy the site and your K-5.
Let's see what IS that keycode?
I treasure my first CUCV key. I got it to preview 09s from Indy and ended up using it for my 08 from Ft Mead. But I kept the original key and sold it with a duplicate.
