what size tires and what brand do you guys run

I run a 37 Hummer tire on the rear of 2 out of the 3 of my CUCV's (all trucks and have the 4.56 gears) and run a BFG Mud terrain in the front that is in the area of 33-34 inches tall. From the calculator at the link below you can see that this gives me a lot better road speed than the stock...

    24v to 12v and problems!!!

Keep in mind when you reduce the diameter you are reducing the belt wrap and will have less contact between the pulley and the belt = more chance of belt slipping. Less belt wrap angle = less drive surface area. Google this term. Ratio of pulleys = crank pulley / alt pulley ETA: using a...

    Post your cucv pics here

No more pics as its gone, I sold it about 4-5 years ago to a guy up the hill from me. I originally bought it from Brad when he lived in San Pedro some 10 to 15 years ago, then picked it up from him at westside NGRR. It had a PTO and I was in the process of putting a 5 ton winch with the...

    Battery Cable/Crimp Connector Size

I tend to go overkill on battery cables. On my 5 ton tractor I run 4/0 cables with the AN ends and on my CUCV's I run 2/0 cables also with the AN cable lugs.

    24v to 12v and problems!!!

If you want to maintain the 24V starter and the two 12V alternators then YES you need the twin resistor pack on the firewall on the other hand if you want to run a 12V starter you can bypass the resistors on the firewall you would be advised to follow the link at roscommon equipment center to...

    24v to 12v and problems!!!

All 12VDC. Having a book on the electrical system would be a good investment but you can also find the info in the TM. I found this several years ago. /.25ton/TM-9-2320-289-34 CUCV Series Trucks at intermediate direct support and general support level Manual The huge resistor behind...

    24v to 12v and problems!!!

From what I understand the only 24V component on a CUCV that is needed to make the truck operational is the starter. While you would need to change more than the starter as you don’t want to swap out the 24V starter with a 12V one and then run the 12V starter on 24V. The volt meter on the...

    do I want a cucv

I have 3 of the CUCV trucks, I love them. I have 2 M1028's and 1 M1008. Both of the M1028's have disc brake conversions in the rear, as well as running a 37 inch tall tire to get a better road speed. I bought the tires from this guy 95% trear for $100.00 each. 95% tread 37" H1 Goodyear...

    Cucv door markings

Door markings of my EX NAVY 1 ton Chevy van. While this isnt the Door marking of my CUCV's it was a ex NAVY van I currently own. Bought it in about 1996 from one of the last base sales at Rough and Ready Island, Stockton, then had to drive to Lemoore NAS to pick it up.

    Posting Pics

Makes sence, thanks for that. But consider this when a pic is hot linked from another source it takes less bandwidth to display the pic than if it were uploaded to this site would it not ? IE fewer resources drained on the steel soldier’s website. And it may be a slight annoyance but if...

    CUCV Parts needed

Pics of shaft, and Dimensions ? IE the shaft on my M1028 (with NP205) has a slip that fits into the rear of the TC. One of my Civilian trucks has a shaft with a yoke for the U Joint to fit into. Didn’t know if the NP205's in CUCV's are all the same or not.
